Neb-Mich finish
I'm sure most of you saw the end of this game, but I have one question, why isn't a penalty on Nebraska for too many men on the field. Shouldn't Mich. have gone one more play

Yeah... that was garbage. Have any refs said anything about it? Who should in this situation? Someone from the NCAA?
Michigan is overrated, but they surely got screwed.

michigan players were on the field, too... but not as many as nebraska.
the refs were afraid to make the call, plain and simple. At least they didn't whistle the play dead when it wasn't or throw a flag on one of the many legal laterals.
my beef with all of this is: why didn't the big guy for michigan (I think it was the tight end) lateral it to the speedy guy right behind him, when it was obvious he was going to get tackled or forced out of bounds?

There is no way they can penalize one team over the other. Both had >11 on the field, plus at least 2 coaches per side. If they penalize both the game ends anyways.

Doc is right but btw just FYI if the officials had felt strongly enough about it they could have given UM a touchdown. BTW, man I know it was a snowball game and all but are ACC offenses really that bad that they made THAT miami D look THAT great.

Yeah but if they scored wouldnt the officials HAVE to throw a flag? I mean it should have been offsetting but man this was ridiculous all game. Possibly the worst officiated game i have ever seen. That said the calls did go both ways.

Yep, I remember they kept commenting on how the speed of the game is different with those teams vs sun belt teams which is true but neither michigan nor nebraska is an overly fast team so I would almost want to see those officials do a game like USC UT (not the actual game because I want it to be perfect and no controversy when UT wins) just to see their heads explode (again not really) from trying to keep up with the speed of the game. That is one thing about this USC UT game, it will probably feature the most speed of any game in cfb history.

With offsetting penalties, wouldn't they have to play an untimed down? The game cannot end with a defensive penalty even if it's offsetting..at least, I think.

actually with offsetting the game would end if they didnt score. If they had scored and offsetting penalties had been called, the play would have been done again from the original line of scrimmage. Makes no sense to me but that is how it would work.

yeah, the head of officiating release a press statement about the play. He basically said all the laterals were legal... then he said that both teams should have been flagged for too many men on the field. with offsetting penalties, you do not get an untimed down.
