Default What would the championship team look like today

if we had re-signed the key pieces? Chandler, Barea, Terry, Kidd? Everyone was screaming about financial flexibility and what not. If I remember correctly Barea signed a 3 year deal with Minnesota. He would be coming off the books at the same time as Dirk, Marion. Chandler was ready to give us a hometown discount as he has said on numerous occasions. So the same time that all the big contracts came off the books we'd really only have Chandler on the books and even if he signed for the 14 a year that's still a fair contract. So we could have defended the title and still ended up with the dry powder. It's looking more and more like the worst decision in Mavericks history. I was one of the few on the board that called it a bad move at the time. You can sign players but you rarely know how they will play in crunch time. We knew we had a clutch team.

Either way I still think that team would be in the top 4 in the conference and probably have added a few pieces along the way as players would have wanted to play with a solid team.

Yea, one of the few....hundreds.

That said, this thread is trash. It's been done to death and anyone who starts this crap again should get a stern talking to.

When did trolling threads become acceptable? I know most of this forum has their foot firmly planted in their mouths from the ignorance displayed when the financial flexibility was the theme around here. Wiser basketball minds preached the truth but no one listened. Sorry to bring up old painful memories. Can we at least differentiate the foaming at the mouth financial flexibility team from the level headed wiser basketball minded by maybe having usernames of those that opposed dry powder highlighted in gold.

So much pathetic cyber-bullying in this thread.

I don't recall anyone "screaming" about financial flexibility. Some posters understood why Cuban went that route, but it was hardly a universal opinion.

Best thing about this thread is not seeing Oilfield's post so all I see is the facepalming.

Assuming Dirk still gets injured probably out of the playoff picture.

It's about as acceptable as hammering out the same tired threads and ideas and bitch-moaning about the past over and over again...and while doing so, not saying one thing that hasn't already been said. Idk, maybe read a post or two before making threads and you would see that bringing this up again is nearly as redundant as making a second GDT.

If you want to be known as a wiser basketball mind around here, start posting like one and the people who are in that class will notice.
