General NBA watching thread 2007/2008
I love TNT HD.
Let us watch the basketball. Let it be entertaining and good. Let us remember that baseball is so deliciously gone and buried until next April.
The Spurs are still boring to watch.
Is everyone ready to see Kobe play his first of many many games in a Laker uni this season tonight?

Aldridge is a monster
webster looks pretty good so far too. If Roy had even an average game the blazers would have won this game.

Go Utah.
Eff Golden State.
And if Boozer could score about 50, that would be great for my fantasy team.

Portland/San Antonio:
1. Why is Jarrett Jack still in the league, let alone starting?
2. Steve Blake would make some one a decent 3rd string point guard.
3. How freakin bad can Sergio Rodriguez be? Find someone to play the point.
4. Martell Webster can shoot.
5. Aldridge is a real player.
6. Duncan/Parker/Ginobili are still great.
7. Oberto might lead the league in fouls and still do everything S.A. wants.
8. If Dampier had Oberto's hands, then he'd score 20 every night.
9. S.A. might play a team this year of 2 Frenchmen, 2 Argentines, and a Dutchman.
10. Portland needs a point guard, really, really, really.

Kind of funny... after picking up Scola, Francis, and James, it looks like the Rockets have the exact same starting five as last year.

I'm probably in the minority but I don't think the Spurs are boring. They have a formula and stick with it no matter what other teams are doing around the league. They constantly find the players to fit around the big 3 year after year. It can be frustrating at times but not boring.
As for tonights game: The scary thing was Ginobli looked like the player he was 2-3 years ago and Elson looks to have improved over last season. Throw in a young backup pg in Washington who could finally give Parker rest without the team falling apart and the defense of Ime Udoka (who had a DNP) and it could be a long season.
Aldridge is a beast and Webster might turn some heads this season. I can only imagine what this team will be like once Oden joins them next season.

I don't think the Spurs are boring at all. I do dislike them, but they can do some amazing things.
One thing that to this day kills me is how Pop can have his team dominate but rarely play any player over 40 minutes, including Tim Duncan. No wonder they peak after march.

Ginobili often looked last year as he did tonight. He just kind of switches back and forth between incredibly dominant Ginobili and turnover prone, out of control Ginobili. I doubt at his age he has improved since last season.
Elson may have improved, on that I'm not sure. He came out and looked pretty dominant their first game last year too (incidentally against us), but he never really was a huge contributor. In the playoffs and the Finals especially, Oberto was much more of a player than Elson.
Not sure about Darius. I'm pretty sure that most Spurs fans though Jacque Vaughn did a good job last year backing up TP. As for Ime, I've never seen him play so I have no comment.

It looks like the cowboys playing ____insert first half schedule opponent here _____
All you have to do is show up and wait for the other team to beat itself.
