Which of the following describes Coach Jason Kidd:
a). Dumb as dirt
b). Dumb as a box of rocks
c). Dumb as a doornail
d). Dumb as a dodo bird
e). All of the above

noise level will be deafening to fire Kidd if they get off to a slow start.
i hate to be negative but nothing ive seen shows this team will be any different fundamentally from last year.

LOL his answer to solidified starters was 2 1/2. Tries to play it off as a joke, but I really don't think he is. The guy is nuts!
If Powell starts, I'm out until Kidd is fired. This is an unserious franchise.

It's Gameday!
Some real issues to work out
1) THJ and Kidd aren't talking?
2) Kidd refuses to nail down starters
3) Luka and Kyrie have played seven total minutes together and Luka out injured
4) Starting lineup has been like -38. Can Kidd fix the failure to start?
5) Final game of the preseason. Can we make it count?

It's preseason game 1. No surprises here. We know the team is a little better, but we didn't take the kind of strides in roster upgrading to contend.
This may be the first season I don't pay for a TV package that includes my Mavs
|
As long as Kidd remains coach, this team isn't worth the time and emotional investment. I'll just check box scores every now and then like I did last year. I hope the young guys can develop a bit. There is going to be a big talent hole to plug after Luka leaves in the future.

Mavs sign Justin Jackson and Pinson
Neither one of them is eligible for a two-way, so it's E10, camp spot (for the one game of preseason we have left tonight), or it's an actual roster spot

1998. Was the last time I didn't make sure I had access to watch mav games. Obviously it's harder nowadays because of greed and stupidity but, I need them to prove their worth.

Lively has been basically perfect so far against Det. The one thing to really look forward to this season.
And its amazing how much better Josh Green plays when Luka doesn't. That's a big problem.

It?s really pathetic that I can?t watch my local team with a cable subscription through Frontier. I watched last year w a VPN and league pass, but this trash squad isn?t worth the money this season.

It really is pathetic. I don't feel like Cuban really cares all that much. If people would talk with their dollars, he and the league would listen. 20$ a month is too much for the app, and 90$ it too much for a streaming service like Fubo that includes it

Actually if kidd ain't speaking to THJ that it's a good thing imo
It may help to facilitate a trade if THJ is unhappy with his role

He has no trade value, so that makes 0 sense.
We've been shopping the guy for what seems like an eternity. Pissing him off then being stuck with him isn't the way.

Yep. Lively is looking more and more like a very smart pick especially with how he played against Duren/Wiseman.

Lively is going to be ridiculously inconsistent this year. That's my prediction and that is almost guaranteed based on the history of bigs. Still, he's shown he can be a rebounding upgrade for this team and a defensive disruptor.
The cool and unexpected thing I saw in the Pistons game is that when given space he can actually exert gravity in the middle and score a bit. It reminds me of two years ago when Powell was so dominant on the roll that it made room for Luka to be dominant. Either teams plug the middle to fight him and Luka/Kyrie have less pressure on them or they defend the perimeter and Lively is going to have room to feast on layups and oops.
Lively's promise is there to not just be a defensive guy but a two-way guy. He just has to learn to set better screens, stay out of foul trouble, and be more consistent

5pm deadline for Green. Stein mentioned they are in talks, but Green is represented by CAA...who also represents Brunson and Terrence Ross...
Wouldn't get my hopes up.

"I think he?s just trying to play the game the right way through everything that he's been working on during the summer and things that we have asked him to do, both offensively and defensively," Kidd said of Green. "I think that's what he has been focused on. I think that the contract is going to take care of itself at some point. He's going to get a contract at some point, and if it's not now, it's going to be after the season."
I sense the same approach the MBT took with Brunson will apply to Green. The additions of two-way contract players Dennis and Brown, along with Jones and Exum on the roster may indicate a willingness to part with Green either at the trade deadline or, as in the case of Brunson, just let him walk away at the end of the season. I realize the Brunson deal was unique in that his father played a significant role, but this feels similar in that the MBT may be thinking "let's see how he plays during the season and then decide how much he is worth".

I like Josh Green and want to see him fulfill his potential. Unfortunately this roster with Luka and Kidd will not get him to that potential. He should look elsewhere.

I'd sign Green to deal like GW has but think he will have to go to be an RFA. It's is kind of risky to pay him more in the 20 mil per year range then he not prove out. That would just hurt whatever his trade value is. If his game takes the next jump and he proves to be 20 mil then pay him next summer or match what he signs. Getting his scoring average up to 13-15 would be a good start.
I think there is a lot of smoke with THJ. He is the ultimate pro and understands the trades and the talk surrounding it are part of the business. TBH, I'm surprised finding a team that wants him is difficult. He is up to any role (6th man or starter). Why do he and Kidd need to talk over the off season. Hardy showed a lot of upside as a scorer but I think he will have to wait for a consistent bench role because IMO, THJ, curry and Exum are likely starting the season in the rotation.

13.5mill is very fair for him. MLA is 12.4 so he is barely above the MLA for a guy who can be a starter and average 9-3-2 on 40% 3pt shooting and solid defense.

Luka was a "full participant" in practice today
No word on if he will play Wednesday, but I'd say that the odds are decent if he's not held out for injuries.

I have no idea why THJ would even expect to start. He hasn't moved the needle defensively and can't handle the ball well. He is a really good 6th or 7th man.

Luka
Kyrie
Grant
DJJ
Lively
Then we got Hardy Green THj Holmes
I?m very interested to see how Exum can squeeze minutes into the lineup. I think he still has a lot left.

Happy to see the MBT extended Green. I am glad this is not a question mark going into the season. Three years and $41M

Yeah, Hawks extended Okongwu for a really reasonable contract. That explains why they were shopping Capela.
Still wouldn't mind Clint at the deadline for rebounding.
