not sure... but you can make sure all the background apps are closed (double click home button, hold down on an app, press the - that comes up next to them) and see if that helps.

hmm okay thanks. I did that. (closed all the apps in the "multi task area". the NE point arrow was still there. I went into settings>general>location services and turned off all the apps in there that were using the GPS. Now the NE arrow is gone. I guess i'll have to see what happens with that.

update:

so i had 5 apps that had the location services enabled:

camera
maps
mark the spot
metro map
shazam

So i turned all of them off, then i noticed the NE arrow icon went away. I re-enabled the Camera and Maps, and the icon still was off. Once i went into the app, then arrow was back. Once i closed the app the arrow was gone. SO yes, something was using the GPS in the background. Looks like i got it off though. Hopefully this helps someone.

yeah i know. I'm going to troubleshoot those soon. I'll let you know. Also, my 'metro map" stopped working. It used to be just a map of the washington area metro..now it has iAds and it doesn't work. they botched it.

anyway, i'll let you know.
