Crazy big win for Baylor... I know Oklahoma was banged up, but man - with a chance to play for a National Championship (albeit small chance given their first loss) they can't lose that game. Frankly, they didn't - Baylor took it.

Congrats to their fans.

The older I get, the more ridiculous college football seems. Just have a playoff, already, and be done with all the "pageantry."

This is the worst set of BCS games ever.

You've got 15 Clemson vs 23 West Virginia in the Orange Bowl.

13 Michigan vs 11 Virginia Tech in the Sugar Bowl.

Meanwhile, 6 Arkansas vs 8 K State relegated to the Cotton Bowl (likely better than some of the BCS games at this point, but still).

They're going to have to do something differently. First and foremost: Eliminate AQ status for the freakin' Big East.

How's this for the most inane idea/article ever:

Quote:
CHICAGO -- Big Ten Commissioner Jim Delany says a model being considered for a four-team college football playoff would give preference to conference champions ranked in the top six nationally.

CBSSports.com reports that Delany spoke to a group of reporters during a meeting at the Big Ten headquarters in Chicago.

Various models for a four-team playoff will be considered by conferences over the next month. The focus will be on where and when the games will be played. After that is settled, how teams will be picked will be decided.

In the plan Delany discussed, a conference champion automatically would qualify for the playoff if ranked in the top six. If less than four conference champions were among the top six, the remaining spots would be filled by the highest ranked teams.
http://espn.go.com/college-football/...l-playoff-idea

Now let's think about it...is this saying *anything* at all? I mean...you know...if the other option were to just take the six top ranked teams.

EDIT: Ahhh, now I get it. It's saying that the #5 or #6 team, if it were a conference champion, would displace a top-four team that did not win its conference. So, if you lose the SEC championship game but are still ranked #4, you don't make the playoff if #5 or #6 is a conference champion. Decent idea, I suppose.
