Default RE:HoopsHype MVP Race - Lookee who's on top

1. Dirk Nowitzki 7-0 PF Dallas
Statistics: 27.9 ppg, 9.8 rpg, 3.6 apg, 1.63 spg, 51.8 FG%
With Antoine Walker and Antawn Jamison no longer around, Dirk Nowitzki is taking even more responsibility on the offensive end. And so far, it has worked miracles for the Mavericks. They are not missing Steve Nash much for the time being.

2. Kevin Garnett 6-11 PF Minnesota / MVP Week: 1
Statistics: 24.8 ppg, 15.4 rpg, 7.0 apg, 2.00 spg, 50.5 FG%
His team is not looking as good as last season, but you obviously can't blame KG. He's averaging almost a triple-double.

3. LeBron James 6-8 SG Cleveland / MVP Week: 1
Statistics: 28.6 ppg, 8.6 rpg, 5.7 apg, 2.43 spg, 1.67 bpg, 47.2 FG% He keeps playing above sky-high expectations. Paul Silas just can't take him off the floor.

4. Ray Allen 6-5 SG Seattle / MVP Week: 1
Statistics: 26.0 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 3.7 apg, 1.43 spg, 52.0 FG%, 60.0 3P% If the Sonics are surprising everybody early in the season, that has a lot to do with Ray Allen and his torrid shooting streaks.

5. Tim Duncan 6-11 PF San Antonio
Statistics: 23.2 ppg, 14.8 rpg, 2.5 apg, 2.93 bpg, 48.1 FG%
Has posted a double-double in every game he's played. Ranks among the Top 15 in 26 different statistical categories. Typical Tim Duncan.

6. Amare Stoudemire 6-10 PF Phoenix
Statistics: 24.8 ppg, 9.2 rpg, 1.83 bpg, 53.2 FG%
Can run up and down the court all day. A beast in the paint. Still doesn't pass the ball much.

7. Dwyane Wade 6-4 SG Miami / MVP Week: 1
Statistics: 25.6 ppg, 7.4 apg, 6.2 rpg, 2.00 spg, 51.9 FG%
Was the MVP in the first week of the season. Has been out a few games due to injury and Miami has sorely missed him.

8. Allen Iverson 6-0 PG Philadelphia
Statistics: 26.4 ppg, 8.1 apg, 3.4 rpg, 1.71 spg, 42.3 FG%
Now playing the point guard, Iverson has the chance to become the first player to lead the league in scoring and assists since Tiny Archibald in 1973.

9. Shaquille O'Neal 7-1 C Miami
Statistics: 18.6 ppg, 11.4 rpg, 2.6 apg, 2.71 bpg, 52.6 FG%, 36.8 FT%
Has deferred a lot to his teammates so far, but he's still able to put up big numbers – except from the free-throw line.

10. Jermaine O'Neal 6-11 PF Indiana
Statistics: 22.7 ppg, 8.5 rpg, 2.67 bpg, 48.0 FG%
Has been forced to play center a lot and got into foul trouble several times. Not that he's been any less devastating for that reason.

11. Paul Pierce 6-6 SG Boston
Statistics: 21.6 ppg, 8.0 rpg, 6.4 apg, 2.00 spg, 42.0 FG%
Some people questioned his physical condition in the preseason. He's proving them wrong in the regular season.

12. Michael Redd 6-6 SG Milwaukee
Statistics: 24.8 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 3.0 apg, 47.6 3P%
Contract year for Michael Redd. So far, the Bucks guard is looking like a max-type player.

13. Kobe Bryant 6-6 SG LA Lakers
Statistics: 28.3 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 4.6 apg, 38.9 FG%
There is little doubt he will lead the league in scoring. But can he lead the Lakers to the playoffs?

14. Andrei Kirilenko 6-9 SF Utah
Statistics: 16.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 2.5 apg, 5.17 bpg, 1.83 spg, 51.7 FG%
He just does it all for the Utah Jazz. Could be the first small forward ever to lead the league in blocked shots.

15. Steve Nash 6-3 PG Phoenix
Statistics: 15.0 ppg, 9.7 apg, 0.83 spg, 54.0 FG%
There is no other point guard like him in the open court – at least while Jason Kidd is on the injured list.

I was thinking about it the other day... and I don't think even GARNETT is athletic and skilled enough to guard Dirk. He and Shaq may be the only two completely unguardable players on the planet.

KG was guarded in every single game and he shot 50% and averaged 24.8 ppg, 15.4 rpg, 7.0 apg, 2.00 spg.

I'd say that was pretty unguardable.

LMAO. Everbody on that list is unguardable. You think the opposing team just leaves them open?

Har har har, that's true FFM. "Ok guys, so we'll just leave Dirk open tonite." Dirk's killer jumpshot and unbelievable (or should I say too believable) head fakes; Garnett's incredible footwork in the post; Shaq's ass. All unguardable.
