Default Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End

It's a little late, so i'm going to make this as short as possible. First and foremost, do not go to a midnight showing. This movie is 3hrs long and you will get tired. The movie's not boring, but it'll still be 3 in the morning when you leave out.

Now to the movie, it was everything Spider-Man 3, and for that matter, X-Men 3 should've been. All three movies had more characters to introduce and balance them in the story. I think Pirates did it right out of the 3 said movies. The best part about this movie was that unlike the first 2, this movie didn't really rely on Johnny Depp. As a matter fact, he wasn't even the first 40 or so minutes of the movie. There's so much going on in the movie, it's really hard to focus on just one person.

Some critics said this movie was confusing. Trust me, there's nothing confusing about this movie if you've seen the first 2.

To answer the question from another thread, Keira Knightley is the hottest woman on the planet. She looks really good in this movie.

I hold her close until she's gone. I'll never know what she was running from. I'll cash her check in the morning.

As long as it doesn't feel like a looney tunes episode (Pirates 2) I'm definitely interested...

This is VERY good news. Thanks for the heads up.

I'm not going until sunday morning though. Friday and Saturday night movie crowds and families beat me down so hard. (Don't take your effing kids out on Saturday night to the movies people, you're ruining it for the rest of us.)

Saw it last night. First movie I've loved all year. Also lots of wierdos dressed like pirates at the movie.

I give it a big thumbs up, too. It started out kinda awkward, I thought, with some forced action and some crappy scenery, but once I got into it, it was great.

(Plus, there was the Transformers trailer!)

I don't think I stated enough. With the vast number of movies now being turned into trilogies this is one of the few that works. I am by no means a Johny Depp fan or a fan of useless sequels but damn was this movie good.

Prior to Spiderman 3 the last movie I saw at the theater was Casino Royale. Prior to that it was Star Wars III, prior to that was Spiderman 2, prior to that was Return of the King...

I don't keep up with movies so it's easy for me to not hear of it.

The line last night was ridiculous. First of all, that theatre had 5 or 6 showings between 8-12. And everybody had to go to the 12. And to top it off, half the people there were high schoolers. I'd be pissed at my mom now if she let me hang out at 3am on a school night to watch a movie when i was like 14-15yrs old.

Good lord what a beating. I will however, be participating in the midnight Harry Potter showing in July, but that's only because it evolved into somewhat of a tradition over the years with a group of us. It's a terrible beating. When I was still in college we'd do midnight for the matrix movies and LOTR and Star Wars and whatever else but it's too much now.

The 2nd one was awful. Maybe the 3rd is better, but it won't be until it's out of theaters that I figure it out.

Much like the Matrix movies, 1 was a high quality movie, and the second was pretty disappointing.

The second pirates wasn't terrible, imo, but it was a big dropoff from the first.

I have high hopes for this one.

Personally I didn't see anything wrong with the 2nd one. Give me 2.5 hours of Depp/Sparrow any day.

I liked it, just like I liked the 2nd Matrix, but it's just not on the same level as the original.

haven't seen 3 yet, but probably will this weekend.

But i by no means thought that #2 was awful. i thought it was still entertaining, but not as fresh as #1, obviously.

remember the doubters before #1? A movie based on a disney ride? ridiculous!

Disney should thank it's lucky stars for Johnny Depp. His take on the Jack character is what made the movie so popular. it got HUGE through word of mouth.

and how can anyone not like Johnny Depp (political stuff aside)?

See...that's where they cross the line. I'm planning on loving this new one pretty much unconditionally (although spiderman showed me that it's entirely possible to hate a movie you thought was going to rock). But a 4th one? I don't know about that. You start to cheapen things after a while.

with a movie like spider-man and x-men, you theoretically could create a bunch of movies, just based on the number of bad guys that exist (even though both x3 and spidey 3 were huge disappointments).

but with this, a 4th may get to be too much... especially if this movie has some sort of wrap-up.

This movie did an incredible job wrapping up one story and still leaving enough tension for me to be looking forward to another.

or... she messed up and it's in reverse order!

as for bloom not doing another one... who the hell cares? does he honestly think anyone gives a rat's ass about him? Even in the first movie, the list of great characters looked like this (I can't remember all the actors and character names):

1 - Captain Jack / Depp
2 - Rush
3 - Knightley (hot)
4 - The Monkey
5 - Commodore
6 - Knightley's Dad
7 - Pirate with one eye
8 - pirate with one eye's fat buddy
9 - big black pirate
10 - pirate with dreads
11 - pirate that liked bombs
12 - 50 - all other pirates
51 - 1000 - all extras
1001 - Orlando Bloom

I've seen the first one, but I was bothered by all the advertisments for this third movie because I thought they were still talking about the sequel. I kept on thinking to myself, 'man, they've been hyping up this thing forever!'

2 wasn't even entertaining... I had to ask the person I was with what happened at the end because I fell asleep about half way through.

The third one..well, let's just say that I had some time to kill today...It's worth seeing at the dollar theatre.

A phrase that rougly says "if you don't think this movie was at least entertaning then you're trying too hard to be a critic" comes to mind....

I thought this movie was decent. I give it a B-. It starts out slow and uninteresting but picks up later. Some of the jokes seemed a bit too disney for my taste..but then again what did I expect. the action was okay, but needed more keira.

and there's nothing wrong with the midnight showing at least the theatre wasnt so crowded

Imo, i thought Keira was the star of the movie. I don't want to give anything away, but i'd say her and Barbossa were in the most scenes.

Some jokes were disney, but not the violence. I went 2 times with 2 different crowds, and both said some of that stuff was borderline R rated.

the violence was definitely Not R Rated! pg-13 tops. not once did I see blood splatter or someone scream in pain from a limb being cut off. sure there was stabbing but not once did I actually "feel" the person getting stabbed...then again maybe my idea of violence is skewed after seeing Grindhouse.

If I had a high opinion of the feelings of 16-year-old girls, you'd have seen me on dateline by now.

I saw the movie last night, didn't care for it at all. I guess theres no reason for them to stop making them if they are making money. It only got a 50% on rottentomatoes, which means its a crappy movie.
