GDT: Game 2 - Mavs vs the lowly Spurs
As we already know, God punished the Spurs for playing on Sunday. However, the officials punished the Mavs for Mark Cuban's haircut.
So:
The Officials 1
God 0
Let's hope that God can do a little more to help the Mavs when one of their leading candidates to apply for admission at the Gates gets double teamed by Tim 'Biscuits and Mustard' Duncan and Bruce Bowen. Because I'll be honest... God was outhustled in the second half.

Go Mavericks, go win this series!
In honor of Murphy3's Patron Saint:
Hail Mary full of grace
the lord is with thee
blessed art thou amongst women
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus
Holy Mary full of grace
pray for us sinners
now and at the hour of our death
Amen
May the good grace from heaven fall down upon the shoulders of our Dallas Mavericks and give them the strength to shoulder any difficulty and the wisdom to overcome all those who seek to keep them from a coveted championship title.

From the DMN:
Quote:
Parker misses practice, might not play today
Spurs guard Tony Parker did not practice Monday and is listed as questionable for Game 2 with a left quad contusion.
Parker took a knee to his left leg Sunday. He bruised his right thigh and strained his right hip in the first-round series against Sacramento.
"I'm not very lucky at the moment," Parker said. "I'll keep doing massage and treatments and keep it warm. Hopefully, it will feel better."

I don't think there is any way Parker sits out. To lose Parker for this game would be huge for the Mavs and possibly give them the edge they need in this series. I'd be very surprised if he doesn't play.

It looks like the Spurs are going to prepare possible excuses for every game this series. I hope the Mavs completely ignore this and go out there and kick the living crap out of the Spurs.

Close game decided in the fourth, and I lose another year off the end of my life due to the stress.

I've been in a pissed off mood since Sunday afternoon and I hope the Mavs are too. The guys take care of business, stop the stupid effin' turnovers, and will win by 8.
TP not playing tonight is like me wearing a thong to work. Ain't gonna happen.
Bring 'em on.
edit: hitting some freethrows won't hurt, too.

The Mavs will definitely give the Spurs the opportunity to rest their starters tonight, since this game will be over at halftime.
Watch out for some more Benga action...

It would be great if Howard had a great night.... The Mavs are 19-0 this season when he scores 20+.

Do what we did most of the last game on defense and hopefully Terry will shoot better.
Mavs will win

Harris is going to start as per 103.3 espn. If this happens I see Howard having a big game and possibly getting Tim or a center in foul trouble.

If Harris starts, that shows panic to me. Why change up now? The Mavs just lost to the Spurs by two on their floor and Dirk had a crappy game. Don't change things up right now.

Parker is slightly injured. I guess Avery is going to test Parker. Jet will have to take Manu. I like the move. This will supply more scoring.

If Parker proves to be slower than usual then you can switch Harris to Manu and put Jet on Parker. Also with Harris penetrating all the time it may get Dirk open for shots.

Griffin just can't get it done against the spurs. There isn't anyone for him to guard except manu. I think josh takes manu and jet takes bowen. Bowen doesn't have a post up game. Same with finley.

Also, I think AJ should use Daniels more often just to keep guys fresh. I know Daniels is prone to some mental errors, but I say get him involved earlier in the game rather than in crunch time so those mistakes can't hurt the Mavs as much. I don't think AJ kept the guys as fresh as he could have in game 1.

Bingo.
I am thrilled that this is happening. I love Griff, but he is superfluous against the Spurs. With JET at SG, the Spurs have real problems trying to defend the Mavs. Specifically, either Duncan or Horry has to guard Howard (if they intend to keep Bowen on Dirk). Also, the Spurs have no one who can stay in front of Harris, which puts additional pressure on their defense and allows Terry to slide to the role he plays best -- shooting the ball.

Why in the flying hell would you start Terry and Harris? Am I missing something here? TERRY GUARDING GINOBILLI? Isn't that possibly the worst matchup on the court for Terry? AJ is pushing his panic button wayyyyyy too early. From calling timeouts only down 0-5 to this. He's looking real inexperienced and he's showing his hand to the Spurs. Ginobilli is going to eat Terry alive in the first quarter. I'm not sure if there is a way to stop Parker from going into the lane other than having a big man who can hold down the paint. I don't understand this at all.
