Spurs waive Walker
Associated Press
SAN ANTONIO (AP) _ Samaki Walker, a five-year pro, was waived Friday by the San Antonio Spurs.
Walker, a 6-foot-9 forward, spent two seasons with the Spurs after signing as a free agent in August 1999, and averaged 5.3 points in 61 games this past season. He began his career with the Dallas Mavericks.

I laughed at this too DJ.
Can you believe someone suggested on the LMF board that we should bring him back with the $1 million exception?

The guy wasn't a joke, he was a contributor on a team that won a title. Malone or Stockton will retire without that ring.
Walker left a very bad Mavs team to go to a team that won a championship - good for him!

he wasn't a joke, he was just overhyped.... he never was the player the mavs were billing him to be..or the spurs, but he was a contributor to a champion.

Yes a contributer, but he's still WAY overhyped in my book. The situation with the Spurs was different too. They didn't need much out of him, just spell someone when they were tired or in foul trouble, they never had to really rely on him. If he came back to Dallas, we would have to rely on his inside presence and he's not that good of a player.

Hey Murph...I thought you were big on defence and rebounding. But I guess we don't need help in those areas if we keep Juwan around.
