<< I think he'll evenutally fall less than a thousand shy of Nolan before hanging em up. Johnson just got the ball rolling too late in his career, it took him a few years before he learned how to pitch. I think it would a shame too because Randy Johnson is more dominant than Nolan was. >>
I won't disagree, but there is another argument. Todays players are arguably not great hitters across the board. There are more teams and as a result the hitting has declined. To say that Ryan was less dominating is not accuraate. Nolan pitched against soem great hitting teams. There were less teams and as a result, it can be argued that there were more better hitters per team in the lineups. Mr. Ryan put up 7 No-No's...that's pretty damn dominating. Until Johnson passes Ryan in one of the power categories....he'll have to be second.
