GDT: Mavs (23-10) at Celts (11-18) 6:30 1/2/15
Rondo reunites with his whole team
Also we get to see Nelson, Crowder, and Wright.
January is going to be a long month on the road. Gotta win games like this.

Friday night game featuring Rondo's home coming, former Mav's looking for revenge? redemption? Celts fans being converted, a GDT simultaneously trashing and praising Parsons, the evolution of Greg Smith, and never would I have thought I would ever say this, but THE rebirth of CharlieV and RJ?

Off the court because Rondo is toasting him? I think so...

This is gonna be such an awkward game to watch. But I'm excited.

His assist numbers are way up though.
Also I figured Wright's minutes would go up in Boston, but he's hardly getting any. Anyone know why?

Rondo homecoming, 3 ex-Mavs out to prove that they shouldn't have been traded...

My working theory is they're trying to keep him healthy because they have designs on trading him at the deadline.

That makes sense. No way playing in Boston would push his stock any higher than it is as a result of his success in Dallas.
I can't wait to see Rondo square off against Marcus Smart, his young replacement. Seeing him take on Westbrook the other night has me thinking he is the kind of player who plays up to his competition. He wants to be considered an elite PG, and now he has a chance to prove it by paying 3 or 4 games a season against the best. I think this will make watching him a lot of fun. We will see tonight, as he tries to prove to Boston it made a mistake to let him go.

Long road trip. Carlisle rests the starters in the 4th quarter and the Charlie V-lead reserves let a 30-point lead shrink to 21. I blame it on Felton.

Absent other considerations, though, isn't Brandan in the top 3 in that rotation?

Not sure what to make of Rondo comments today. Also haven't got the full quote so context...
"I haven't played defense in two years...they expect me to play defense here"

"I haven't played defense in a couple years," Rondo said. "I've been able to hide a lot with Avery Bradley on the ball. He's helped out, the young guy. But [in Dallas] they expect me to play defense and, in the West, if you don't play defense you'll get embarrassed every night at the point guard position."
Sounds a little better with the full quote

I posted the full quote/article in the Rondo thread 3 hours ago or so. Have no problem with what he said.

Rondo was smirking....it was his typical semi-trolling.
It was more the hint that he had Bradley in Boston, who always took on the opponents better guard....

Rondo may be the player version of Rick Carlisle. Absolutely gives media as little as possible, always joking, and always has a straight face.

Rondo got lots of applause from the crowd, no surprise. Surprising how much they cheered when Dirk was introduced.

Let's not create drama from simple Rondo quotes. Now they 3 games in 4 days on the road to start 2015. Go Mavs.

The better Smith plays, the less I care about adding gimpy O'neal.
