You're a rich man An X58 and triple channel would've pushed me too far from my target USD.

I mean. It wasn't really that expensive. I knew i wanted a high end machine. So i budgeted between $1500 and $2000. I think i would have preferred to go with the lower end, but when your in the midst of building it, sometimes you gotta change some things. For instance, i changed my raid arrays around a bunch from what i had planned to what i ended up with. It sucked as i kept adding more and more to it. I originally planned to have 4 drives,( 2 raid 1s.) i ended up with 6 drives (one raid 1 and one raid 5), the video card i wanted ending up going out of stock. So i bought the one i have. I don't play games on a PC anymore..this build is more for bragging rights. All games i play are on the PS3.
Heres my specs.
Lian Li PC-B25
Intel Core i7 920
Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5
OCZ Gold 12GB DDR3
EVGA 9800 GTX+
2 X WD 500 GB Black Cavier (RAID 1)
4 X Seagate Barracuda 1TB (RAID 5)
Seasonic 850 watt SS-850HT
plextor dvd rw
3.5" media card reader thing
Windows 7 Professional 64 bit
Logitech G5 & Saitek Eclipse RED
Dual Dell 2408 WFP
i already had the keyboard and monitor from my old computer as well as the dual 24 inchers. So those costs aren't part of this build.
Also just cause i decided to list the guns i have too. I pretty much copied and pasted this stuff from my profile on the hardforum.com
Glock 22, .40 s&w
CMMG M4 LEP II .223 with EOTECH 512.A65/1
Mossberg 500 Tactical Mariner, 12 GA

I had 6 drives, the heat/energy is more than I'd like to keep thinking about in the back of my head (technically I still have 6, I just haven't got around taking out the now useless 2 PATA ones).
What do you do on the computer though? 12GB is an overkill for pretty much anything I can think of. Really just bragging rights?
Oh, 5.71c = Tuna sub combo (gotta love Tuna friday specials).

i was worried about the noise and the heat as well. But the case i have is super quiet! Like i literally hear nothing. Its got 3 120mm fans inside. But ugh, yeah no issues whatsoever with heat or noise and its been on pretty much non stop since november is when i built it.
as far as the 12 gigs of ram. my plans initially were for virtual machines and lots of them. So thats pretty much why i got that much ram. the board has a 24 gig ram limit. im really impressed with the i7 920. great processor. and i haven't even touched the over clock stuff yet...

Hah! No joke, outside of daily purchases, that's almost exactly what I got:
The craftsmanship that goes into these things is exquisite.

Haha, awesome guys. Do you know this company ?
It´s name is Alpenföhn, which originally is a special wind that blows from the Alps into the Alpine foreland. Therefore the company named the products after mountains like the famous Eiger north wall or kid´s books or glacier mummies. Anyhow - no names, you would connect with PC stuff.
Have fun when browsing.

Isn't Alpenföhn the wind that makes people act a little crazy? Or is that a different Alpine special wind?
