Default Running with the Prez.

"Attached is a picture of Mike McNaughton. He stepped on a land mine in
Afghanistan Christmas 2002. President Bush came to visit the wounded in
the hospital. He told Mike that when he could run a mile, that they would
go on a run together. True to his word, he called Mike every month or so
to see how he was doing. Well, last week they went on the run, 1 mile
with the president. Not something you'll see in the news, but seeing the
president taking the time to say thank you to the wounded and to give hope
to one of my best friends was one of the greatest/best things I have seen
in my life. It almost sounds like a corny email chain letter, but God
bless him."

And no Mavdork is beyond the lure of ruining a thread dedicated to a great deed.

Good grief....God forbid a liberal would appreciate that Bush kept his word...took time to regularly call this soldier. That is pretty damn amazing that he did that and ups W a few more notches in my eyes.

The first photo at the top is inspirational and a great story. Don't bastardize this thread of a great deed with your anti-Bush venom.

Sure bio, just keep thinking that this is just a coincidence that these two were photgraphed running together, it's merely a chance encounter where a photographer was around. No intention by GWBush to have it pictured...nah.

Sorry to burst your bubble that you apparently have that GWBush is somehow above a good photo opportunity, or that he would utilize the feel good story to better depict himself as a "compassionate conservative". That's reality....

The FACT that it became a good photo op doesn't demean anything that GWBush did, but nevertheless it became a good photo op.

You just don't get it. Your hatred of Bush infests every thread. Pathetic.

Let a story stand on its merits for once. You have no idea how to back out gracefully despite the best efforts of several people here.

good grief.

Why is pointing out how it was a good photo op showing a "hatred of Bush"???

BTW, there is no need to "back out gracefully". Nothing to be apologetic about, at least on my end.

I believe the sad part is how cynical your statement was. Sad to look at the world that way all of the time.

considering there is almost always a camera present on the President , it would have been almost impossible for this not to be a photo op. So what is your point? Redundantly obvious observations given in a manner to mislead others? I guess that is the way of the Democratic party of today.

Listen, if Bill Clinton can find time to diddlle an unattractive intern while American forces bomb Kosovo without any photographers around, and time to grope a semi-attractive middle-aged staffer in the middle of the day without any cameras around, can you tell me why George Bush couldn't find time to go for a run with an amputee without any cameras around? If he wanted to he could have.

And they try to say that Bill Clinton was disorganized and couldn't keep to a schedule? HA!

Bush could have probably have barred the reporters, but then we would be reading about secret goings on at the White House. And of course Clinton did most of his extracurricular activities with Staff inside of closed doors, but I'd be highly surprised if he doesn't have some pictures somewhere of this.
