GDT game 43 - Mavs (14-28) at Hornets (15-23) 6:00 FSSW
Second game of a B2B for Mavs. Hornets have been off for five days since winning against SAC and LAL.
Must lose

@bobbykaralla: The Mavs arrived in Charlotte in the middle of the night to play the Hornets, who haven't played since Friday. One of the weirder schedule quirks all season.

To be fair, I can’t keep the Pelicans, Bobcats, and Hornets apart in my head
And I’d bet there is at least one poster here who agreed without realizing that the Bobcats aren’t even a team name anymore

So back to the Hornets...
Only thing I know or care about them is the fact that Malik Monk has been a huge disappointment so far.

I didn't think he would struggle this much given his propensity to knock down the outside shot, but man, he has had a rude welcoming to the NBA. I followed him since HS since as an Arkansas fan, we all hoped he would stay in state and play at UofA. That state (I'm from here) gets into all sorts of bends and twists when "one of their own" chooses another program. And I don't blame him one bit. Kentucky is where you go to solidify your lotto draft status, not Arkansas.
However, as we knew he would do well in college, his size always stuck out to me. He's too small for an NBA SG and does not possess the handles or knowledge to be an effective NBA PG. Buddy Hield was and still is a very good comp. I haven't seen much of his NBA tape, but I'd also hazard a guess that his defense isn't up to par either. Elite athleticism and scoring ability, but not the complete package as a tweener.
Still rooting for him, though. I think he can become an excellent scorer, perhaps off the bench while he continues to develop. Kid is only 19.

Mavs have absolutely no chance. 3 games in 5 nights plus that horrible travel last night and losing an hour. I actually hope that Dirk plays very limited minutes, and have all the youngins go full throttle. I dont want to see any injuries.

Would be a good night to sit some of the vets. Has Dirk sat on a back-to-back yet? Don't recollect him sitting

The Horneycats are cold, and the Mavs are sizzling hot from last night's win. The Mavs will show that they can win on the road, too. The two headed Mav monster, MaxiMejri will dominate Child-brained Howard and the Jr. will Kembarize Walker... the Mavs win again!
Mavs - 112
Horneycats - 98

Is this a McRoberts revenge game? They were the Bobcats when he played for them, so maybe he has trouble dialing up that animosity toward a Hornet logo.

I’ll be surprised if the Mavs crack 20 points in the first quarter.
Edit: we did it! Can we sim the rest of this game now?

How do they leave Dirk wide open? The Hornets are trash.

Just figured out who is calling the game with Followill -- it's Matt "2 Ts/2 Rs/2 Ls" Carroll.

These damn veterans screwing us out of a draft pick. Seriously, they won't be on the team after this season, and we'll have the 11th pick. Wonderful.

I still have faith in the loss. The 3 games in 4 days legs really give out in the 4th quarter

I dunno, we're a pretty deep, young team, and Rick has done a good job of managing minutes... Really depends on Barnes and Wes.

Dennis trying to score too much right now, needs to remember that he has 4 teammates on the floor.
