We might be champions had we drafted Bey or Bane. For sure Bane.

This is going to be very unpopular. Our best chance to contend is Luka gets 'hurt' and we have one of the worst records in the league, securing a top 10 pick next season.

How could we have both? We picked 18 and 31. I assume you meant we could have drafted both that year?
Bey went 19 and Bane 30.

We had the 36th pick as well. We could have easily moved the 30th and 36th pick to get 29 or 30

Nobody is blaming Luka, but if he wants a second star to play with, then he can certainly participate in the process more.

If anything that star that Luka made friends with would try to convince Luka to join their team. Luka making friends is not landing us a 2nd star in Dallas. Nothing will other than draft/trade. We are terrible in free agency.

We addressed 2 big areas - center position in McGee, power forward position in Wood.
Should be a better team defensively and that's saying something as I think we were top 10 last season. Should also be better rebounding with those guys as well.

Huge improvements. Powell is now on the 3rd team, huge improvements. Now we don't have to run RB or DFS at the 4 for extended minutes, we can dictate the lineups. McGee/Wood/Kleber solid 4-5, good options to work with....Not having a Wood or McGee pigeon holed a lot of the things that we could do.
THJ, Dinwiddie an in shape Luka for the whole season. That's a quality top 8 in the rotation...

How much of this do you guys think is true and might be reason why the Mavs will never be big FA attraction for the players?
https://www.si.com/nba/mavericks/new...-antetokounmpo
?[The Mavs] seek his input, but he?s not heavily involved in personnel decisions,? said MacMahon of Doncic's work alongside owner Mark Cuban, GM Nico Harrison, coach Jason Kidd and the rest of the organization. ?He has not shown interest in being heavily involved. He spends much of his offseason in Europe. He?s not a guy who has shown the desire to be a recruiter.?
Perhaps all of this ? NBA players? pettiness and Doncic lacking a desire to recruit ? will change at some point in the near future.

I think it's huge. Both are white, did not go through the AAU program here, no high school ball. So socially they are behind the 8 ball. They look like Woody Harrelson, not Wesley Snipes, so assumptions are made. It's a racial thing, it happened to Dirk, no big name free agents came here in their prime during Dirk's run, who wants to share the spotlight with a white guy? Jeremy Lin ran through the same thing, didn't look the part, doesn't belong, so he's out of the league.....even though he has a bit more to offer than a Goran Dragic. They would rather sign up with Harden or Irving, known basket cases.

Brandon ?Scoop B? Robinson: Russell Westbrook coming off the bench with the Dallas Mavs would make sense IF he were bought out by the Los Angeles Lakers but it ?would ultimately be Jason Kidd?s call? a highly respected league fixture tells @BallySports by phone. ? via Twitter

Agreed, if you were the Rockets, you do what they do with Wall, but not the Lakers, deep in taxes, no draft picks. Probably still one of the top duos in the league.....if HE can stay healthy.

The Dallas Mavericks superstar made media waves last week when he was seen partying on stage with Goran Dragic and Shaquille O?Neal in Croatia. O?Neal was visiting Europe on a small party tour as ?DJ Diesel.? Now, Shaq is spilling the details of the trip on his podcast. ?Shoutout to Luka,? O?Neal said on The Big Shaqstrumental. ?When I arrived in Luka?s town some people picked me up, they drove me to a mansion that Luka had set up for me. I had the pizza there, I had the hookah there, I had the fruit, they escorted me to the show. ?Luka said ?Shaq, ain?t nothing going to happen to you when you?re in my town, Mr. O?Nealovich? ? that?s what they called me. So shoutout to Luka and Goran Dragic because their people really set it up for me.? ? via Dalton Trigg @ Sports Illustrated

Not overly enthusiastic about this but doesn't really matter.
Would have rather signed a 22 yo Lawson who is bigger, can play defense, rebounds and shot 50% from 3 in the summer league, than a 26 yo who has only shot 35% from 3 and has a seemingly very limited upside.

Yea on the surface it seems like an odd decision to lock into Dorsey that early.

Moses Wright is signing a guaranteed deal in China with the Zhejiang Golden Bulls and is expected to waive his two-way deal.
Can we rewind time and sign Lawson to the second two-way?

If we can rewind time, that's a small ask. I'd definitely grant it. I would choose to get prime Dirk back to play with Doncic.

And....Aguirre, Blackman, Chandler, Nash, Tarpley, Marion, JET, Kidd, D. Ellis, and Perkins.
That would be my dream 12 if we could rewind.

Finley was a beast here for his first 5 to 6 seasons when he was a tremendous slasher and finisher at the rim. Then he fell in love with the jumpshot and he was never the same. If his shots weren't falling, he was then a liability on both ends of the court. Same can be said for THJ today.

In a face-to-face meeting with Brooklyn Nets owner Joe Tsai over the weekend, All-NBA star Kevin Durant reiterated his trade request and informed Tsai that he needs to choose between Durant or the pairing of general manager Sean Marks and coach Steve Nash, sources tell The Athletic. Durant stated he does not have faith in the team?s direction, sources said. ? via Shams Charania @ The Athletic
Faith in the team?s direction? They signed you to a max deal, and paid you to rehab. Signed/traded for your buddies. Didn?t KD and Kylie want Nash at the HC?

Ha, welcome to the NBA Joe Tsai.....nah, I think they just endorsed it after he was hired....they didn't care at that point. Thought KD and Nash did have some interaction in Oakland when Nash I believe was a "consultant" under Kerr. Well either way, KD made the demand without any reason, now weeks, with nothing being done....he's dropped his value even further coming out it's me or the coach.
I think this is more Nash than Marks. When a player does not respect you as a coach, it's going to be a lost season. Marks has his hands tied with 3 40 million dollar salaries, not much you can do when you are handicapped like that. You got Harden who probably ignores every coaches' plea, that shows KD that there is a lack of respect from players and it will continue with the next 40 million dollar man. When you have a contract like Kyrie sit out for home games....with Nash not being able to do anything about it....it probably ate at KD all season...who cares what he said in the media, players will toe the line. It ate at a competitor like KD. Then you trade Harden for a bag full of trash......in KD's mind, draft picks are trash. KD and Kidd......boy that would fit like a glove. All that work Kidd did with Giannis will again pop up here, a 7 foot point guard, or power forward...boy imagine all the tricks Kidd can teach KD. Then you cross that with Luka.....we got 3 1st rounders and a bag of trash laying around?

He needs to be punished by making him play out his contract in Dallas-Fort Worth.

I mean, KD already said he wants out, so I feel like this is just another odd thing for him to do. What if they fired the coach/gm, and he still wants out? He certainly embraces being the villain.
With that said, if Luka wanted Nico/Kidd gone, then it would happen immediately. This is a league run by superstars...like it or not.
