Running back on defense is close to consistent. But not enough obviously

Another great game from Parsons. Another invisible performance from Iron Man. This time not even showing on defense.

Powell is really a small center. But this match up he could actually work playing PF next to McGee.

Oh yes Mavs are soooooooooo much better without Dirk. Give me Dirk with only 13 points and a win over empty stats and a loss. Warriors up 18

Well them showing hustle is something much better. Compared to last 3 years. Monta used to break down against golden state.

Mavs have lost complete composure in the 2nd half. Pretty much what Rick Carlisle lead teams have been like from 2011-12 to present. 95-77 at the end of the 3rd quarter.

Parsons is tearing it up with ton of points and lots of mavs losses these past several games. Good chance he could opt out and get a bigger contract with another team.

That was a lot more fun while it lasted. I honestly can't believe how well Parsons is playing. He's playing best of his career, including Houston.

Mavs have another v Spurs Friday. I won't hold it against them if it's another blowout. But they need to start putting all the pieces together for the run towards playoff seeding.

I'm low key worried about Matthews...

EDIT: Got ahead of myself. Spurs next Friday (Feb 5)

More and more, two of three of Parsons/Matthews/Williams don't show up on offense. In fact, Williams has been pretty much awful the last three games.

Thank god Parsons gives somewhat of a bright future on offense. There really isn't much else to lean on since we're likely a first round exit team.

The paint is not important on defense.

Wesley Matthews needs to sit down if he's still injured. Even ESPN broadcasters calling him out saying he's running weird. Giving no offense to this team when he's the starting "Shooting Guard" and his job is too "SHOOT". Not only that but he's also getting torched by Klay Thompson and giving him 30+ points! So much for 3 and D.

His career high is 52. And to be fair Felton was on Klay most of the first half. Wes was on him most of second half though.

Sure would be nice to see Simba or Evans... I mean we have played zero defense last 3 games or so and yet we continue to roll out these small lineups night after night. Simba may be super inconsistent on offense as a rookie but he was drafted with the assumption around here that he would contribute defensively....yet he never gets a chance. Would have been nice to see someone with his frame try and disrupt Klay after he got rolling. Some nights we don't even score 100 so it's not like these small lineups are translating to great offense. It's like we are playing small... just to play small.

This is quite honestly one of the most inaccurate, incorrect, and inane things I've ever read (and I read a lot of basketball message boards).

A. The Mavs are in no way, shape, or form a high-octane team. Devin Harris is their only push the pace, transition guard, and he's out. Williams and Matthews are the antithesis of high-octane.

B. Did you forget the Mavs blew out GS for their worst loss of the year? A game in which Dirk had a game-high +/-. (Yes, Curry was out, but that changes little to the point.)

C. Any insinuation that Dirk is a detriment to the Mavs, and they wouldn't be having a better game with him, is factually incorrect on every level. Dirk has a team-high +9.1 On-Off Per 100 Possessions. Without him, the Mavs are an awful team who don't sniff the playoffs.

McGee plays 2 minutes. Charlie V plays 20. I know they both suck, but one has a possible future NBA career and one does not.

Cuban is a failure. He fucked up Steve Nash. He fucked up Chandler in 2011. He failed Dirk. He picked the wrong Nelson.

I also am not sure what you are implying with this post. Are you honestly saying that Dirk wouldn't have helped at all in this game?

Also, forcing the Warriors to play tractor ball would be ideal if you can do it. Mavs only run with the Warriors because the Warriors make them play at their pace.

I took Erica's post as Mavs are at their best when they are in transition, making quick decisions, kicking the ball around inside/out getting the open looks.

Because this is also Warriors type of play, Dirk wouldve never been able to keep up that kind of pace on BOTH ends of the floor for any amount of significant minutes.

Now with that said, Coach put CV in for 20 minutes. But I think I got what Erica was saying.

But that logic still sounds like you just shouldn't play Dirk at all vs GS. Why even have him on your team if he can't play against the best team in the league?

I don't buy it.

But...

The Mavs *aren't* at their best in transition. Especially against GS, who wants to run. The Mavs aren't a transition team, and only has one guard who pushes the pace above the average NBA per 100 possessions, in Harris, who wasn't playing.

You know what gets the Mavs open looks, though? Dirk's presence.

Again, team-high +/- on the year. Game-high +/- in the GS blowout. It's a silly argument any way you try to spin it...

(And sidebar...man alive, CV should not be on an NBA roster. He's a nice guy and good teammate...but he's one of the worst basketball players in the NBA.)

I'm wondering if DWill and Parsons will ever be good chemistry. Seems one has a great game while the other a bad one. Both need the ball to be at their best.
