Dirk Reports He Requested Time Off

Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki told reporters yesterday that he has requested time off from coach Don Nelson. He's been busy promoting his new rap album due out next week. Nelson, aka: Nellie, decided that Nowitzki could have two options, he could be benched for five games, or feature Nelson on the CD. Nelson has reportedly been working on a little side rap business himself, thus did not have the time to draw up defensive plays the past few seasons. Nowitzki opted to sit for five games.

In Nowitzki's post game comments after Tuesday's loss to the Orlando Magic, he told reporters that the album will be released next Friday and that Mark Cuban, aka: M-Cubes, and assistant coach Avery Johnson, aka: Lil General will be featured on his album. "I'm really pleased with M-Cubes and the Little General on this album. I did not know how talented M-Cubes is when he raps about his money or 'Lil Generals ability to make the illest sounds like 'FIIIVE-OHHH!' [5-0]" Nowitzki said during a Thursday morning radio interview. However the big German asked Lil General to update it to 'FO-OOONE' so that it refers to Nowitzki now instead of David Robinson. Nowitzki told reports he is not sure whether his rap name should be 'Platinum German' or 'Platinum Diggler.'

Nowitzki also plans to visit his friend Steve Cash in Phoenix prior to the album release. The two basketball stars reportedly have some unfinished business to take care of.

"I do not understand why Nelson benched me" Nowitzki said. "I'm a superstar player, I am supposed to get away with things like this. Look at Kobe Bryant, he was not benched last season or this season. I'm not raping anyone, I just need some time off to promote my album and see Stevie."
