I love Luka, but it’s tough seeing Giannis hold the MVP trophy knowing we should have drafted him.

That is bogus. The race should've been closer than that and anyone who didn't vote for him top 3 is a moron and should have their voting revoked.

Rockets have zero class
Literally while Giannis is crying on stage, Rockets are tweeting stats on why he wasn’t legitimate as MVP

@espn_macmahon: LeBron James' lone fifth-place vote for MVP came from the http://NBA.com fan vote, not a media member. All the ballots here: https://ak-static.cms.nba.com/wp-con...Selections.pdf …

It should have been Luka unanimous.
Perhaps someone viewed Ayton and JJJ is higher regard, but I agree Trae should have been 2 or 3.

Everything about their marketing is trash. That's why the stadium is usually half empty during the regular season.

I disagree. Luka should've won no doubt but Trae had a very good season. Everyone wrote him off before he even stepped on the court. People called the Hawks stupid for drafting him. He's proven to be of the same caliber as anyone in that draft class and looks like a future star in this league. Had he started the season how he ended it he may have won ROY.

Traes defense will always be his downfall...it was not rookie terrible, it was beyond terrible. And its something you cant fix because of his physical limitations (small and tiny) and also the lack of awareness.
Same goes with Collins. If they keep both, they will crash and burn in the playoffs. Thats why Schlenk just drafted defensive players. I expect that they may ship out Collins because you cant hav two starters who are both in the top-3 of the worst defender on their positions.

I respect that you disagree. But everything you just mentioned is to the negative portion of Trae's argument for ROY. He played great! ... after the all-star break. And another poster already mentioned he offered nothing to the other half of the game (defense).
Luka played historically great all season long.
A unanimous decision doesn't mean Trae won't be a great player in this league for a long time, just means it validates what Luka did this season, which was transcendent.

Who are they trading for Butler?? Seems like he only compounds the "1 ball" problem with Harden/CP3.

Eric Gordon, Capella and two 1st rounders I'd imagine.

Well let's be honest with ourselves....Luka didn't really have anyone on his team to get the assists or rebounds he got lol.

The Rockets trying to add Jimmy Butler to a locker room with CP3 and James Harden
what a huge stinkpot this would be...
Can you imagine Butler getting on Harden about his defense - let the chaos ensue.

Clearly the motivation behind getting Butler is having someone who actually plays better in clutch moments as opposed to you know... Harden. That is if Harden lets someone else have the ball.
But yeah this sure sounds like trying to put out a fire with gasoline.

@wojespn: Golden State Warriors star Kevin Durant has declined his $31.5M player option and will become an unrestricted free agent, league sources tell ESPN. Durant and his business manager Rich Kleiman are in New York, evaluating free agency options. So far, process has stayed private.

Nice, for a player you were going to lose for nothing any ways. Capela next to Embiid? Gordon would help Simmons a ton, creating lots of run way for him to navigate. But those 2 firsts would be nice.

@wojespn: Reporting w/ @ZachLowe: Houston’s offering Clint Capela, Eric Gordon and PJ Tucker individually to teams w/ space to absorb salary. Rockets trying for best available first-rounder for any of those three, hoping to redirect pick to Philly in pursuit of Jimmy Butler sign-and-trade.
@espn_macmahon: Houston player to me recently: “I hope they don’t panic. I hope they don’t make drastic moves. We are right there. We’ve just got to figure out some things, fine tune some things, but we are right there. We don’t need to change much. It’s not the time to f---ing panic.”

So, let's see starting five of Brunson, Doncic, Tucker, Capela, and KP with Gordon and Powell coming off the bench.... + joy of watching the Rockets implode. Might be worth it?

I'd love to go after Capela, but we don't have any draft picks to offer -- our 2020 pick is off limits because we already traded 2021 and you cannot trade consecutive picks... So we're pretty much out on this deal.

@wojespn: Toronto Raptors center Marc Gasol is exercising his $25.6M player option for next season, returning to the defending NBA champions, league sources tell ESPN. Gasol could’ve entered free agency.

3 Team trade with Powell and Brunson+ going to the team giving the Rockets a 1st round pick with us getting just Capela? We have our center for almost the same cost as the players we send out and then have all of our space to get a Walker/Brogdon. Let's dream big boys:
C - Capela
PF - Porzingis
SF - Doncic
SG - THJ
PG - Walker
Who says no? Team sending the 1st round pick gets 2 really good players for a very low cost given Brunson's rookie wage. Rockets chip away at the need to get their 3rd huge star in Butler and get a 1st rounder to sweeten the package to Philly. Dallas clearly swaps Brunson/Powell for Walker/Capela. Come on, make it happen...

I say no. Why give up Brunson and Powell for Capela (and help the Rockets) when you can sign Dewayne Dedmon outright. Dedmon can actually stay on the floor in the clutch and provide space on offense.

I mean, hopefully we wouldn’t have to offer that much, but it’s not just Capela - it’s the flexibility to have a very good C PLUS be able to replace Brunson mightily. You’re not getting Dedmon AND Walker with cap space, but you could get a superior Capela (despite him not being able to hit a 3) AND Walker in such a scenario. And I’m not sure it helps Houston at all. Butler can be a head case. They’d never trade with us anyway so it’s a moot point.

The stars are aligning for this to be a perfect offseason...
@TheSteinLine: The Knicks are weighing the prospect of extending a considerable one-year offer to Warriors free-agent big man DeMarcus Cousins if they miss out on top target Kevin Durant, league sources say
@TheSteinLine: The Knicks have long been planning to pursue the likes of Durant, Kyrie Irving and Kawhi Leonard in free agency but are widely expected to turn to short-term offers if they miss out on their primary targets

@ChrisBHaynes: New York Knicks will not extend a qualifying offer to Emmanuel Mudiay, making him an unrestricted free agent, league sources tell Yahoo Sports.

Also Knicks: you think Boogie Cousins would come for 25-30 mill?

As weird as it sounds. Under these circumstances Boogie might make sense. Knicks have to spend money on someone and won't commit long-term money. They can easily pay Cousins 30M and see what he brings as long as it's only a one-year deal.
