Pacers up and coming?

If Larry Bird doesn't screw this up he can have a true east contender in a couple of years, this team is a lot different than Atlanta and has much more potential than Atlanta did.


Pro's:
A young cheap PG (for now) that has potential to be a star)
A star young swing man locked up for 4 years at a reasonable price
A young center that can dominate both ends and is only developing and getting better
2 raw young players with lots of potential (Stevenson and George)
A Pf that is getting better young and cheap he will be solid but never a star
3 big expiring contracts which they can use how they want at deadline (Ford, Dunleavy, Foster)

Weakness:
Don't have a big to stretch the floor
Don't have a 2 guard that can score at a decent rate
Don't have a lock down defender (Jones is a good defender but not a lock down)
Don't have a elite three point shooter

yeah, theyve got a pretty nice thing going. they kind of need George to pan out. perhaps should have taken Bledsoe or Larry Sanders instead? B.Rush is a nice 6th man type.

would like to see what Dunleavy could do off the bench for a playoff team.

If they had Dirk Nowitzki on their team, that fixes weakness #1. (and 4 if dirk is counted as an elite 3pt shooter)

They don't have an elite three point shooter? Are you kidding me? Have you watched Danny Granger play?

Brandon Rush is also a great three-point shooter, though he has been hesitant to pull the trigger aggressively over the past couple of years; he seems pretty committed to contributing more offensively this season, however.

he is a really good one but he isn't elite

Rush is decent but his stroke seems inconsistent plus he has a more complete game now

They are about 20th in league in three point shooting

I really think Hibbert will be a star within 2 years

Sanders is similar to George in that he will take a while to devolop. Bledsoe while a nice pick in hindsight for Indiana they would have been blasted for taking a PG when they already have a young short one that can play
