Why not Oklahoma City Frontier? Oh and why aren't they keeping the Sonics name?

That's actually exactly why I thought it sounded stupid. It is very WNBA-esque.

I think the name goes well with the location. But I hated the Bobcats name when they chose that. Idk depending on the jerseys it could work out : )

the only way this name can work (that is, not be ridiculous) is if the logo is a fighter jet or something. but then, isn't that just a rip off of Seattle's logo?
i was hoping "Barons" would stick. and by "hoping," i mean "remotely interested."

It definitely sounds like a WNBA team name.. like the WNBA team, Storm.
Should be something like the...
Oklahoma City Scavengers
but both the Barons and Outlaws are much much better than Thunder

why not the OKC Thundarr, then? That would be cool. Durant could dress up as Ookla the Mok on costume nights.
'Thunder' lends itself to too many fart jokes, if you ask me.

Should have been the Oklahoma Apache or some sort of Native American team. The NBA is short of those (NFL has Redskins, NHL has Blackhawks, MLB has Indians).

I hate those singular names (like Heat, Magic, etc.). What do you call a single member of the team?
After the '05 draft, ESPN showed Chris Paul and Deron Williams chatting. Williams said "How does it feel to be a Hornet?" And Paul answered "Feels good. How does it feel to be a... a... uh... damn, you can't say it! A Jazz?" So Kevin Durant, how does it feel to be a Thunder?

Why didn't they just steal someones name off American Gladiators? They all sound pretty badass don't they?
The OKC... Titans, Crush, Venom, Jets, Helga. All fine choices.

Really original...
Europe NFL has Berlin Thunder
D-League has Albuquergue Thunderbirds
Even soccer has Minnesota Thunder
I really feel sorry for OKC fans.

I've heard that they are going with black and gold, like the Wizards' secondary road jersey. Probably solid black with a gold trim, which sounds quite nice to me.

I think the name will do. It's really not that bad for what you actually have in OKC. I'm sure they wanted to stick to something vaguely reminiscent of OKC...
So, you could either go with the OKC Bombers, but that would definitely cause a stir.
Also, you could try out the OKC [insert Native American term] which will get them nothing but a lawsuit.
Or you can go with some bland name like Thunder since Sooners is already taken.
Looks to me like they chose the least crappy option on the list. =[

"Least crappy" is as good as it gets in Oklahoma!

Thats the list? They can use any word in the entire English language, or any language for that matter. They can even make up a word if they wanted, or combine words. With all of that, the list is only four choices long?
*edit* -- Sorry, its been a long weekend and an even longer Monday, and I'm sunburnt, tired, sick, and grumpy.

^ Hah, the thought was to use a word related to Oklahoma. Have fun thinking of anything if at all.
