Meh, Roddy still can't shoot, but at least he gets close to the basket.

Collison passed it to Dirk for an easy layup. How cool is that ?

This give and go between Dirk and Roddy has worked ever since. Such an easy play, yet so effective.

Step 1 to getting better: beating the really bad teams like a team should. 3rd quarter will be a good indicator.

Never mind. Our PGs are disasters. Can we bring in Derek James please?

Probably Kaman gone and a couple of our young point guards.

As long as they play him in as many meaningful minutes as they did tonight, I'm fine with him being here.

Way to go Mavs, and let me just say I still hate the Suns. I hated them under Dan and Tony and I still hate them under Lindsey Hunter, seriously who the hell is Lindsey Hunter? His name sounds like an extra on a detective show with Lorenzo Lamas on the USA network "This week on AirFox with Lorenzo Lamas and Lindsey Hunter." . . . Also Lindsey Hunter is the semi-hot chick who plays the side-kick/love interest who is a computer expert and Hooters waitress. What the hell was I ranting about, oh yeah, fuck the Suns. Phoenix is the kind of city where people walk around saying, "Yeah, It's 134 degrees today, but it's a dry heat." Just delusional at best. I hate that Phoenix allowed Steve Kerr to run their franchise into the ground. I hate that Gortat ended up in Phoenix instead of here. Way to save your job, Otis Smith. I hate that Phoenix's mascot is a gorilla. What the hell does that have to do with the sun? That's like having a team like the Hornets and the mascot being a Pelican, it makes no fucking sense. I hate that no one on this forum moderates any more. I hate that I can type fuck, fuck fuckity cunt fuck, and no one will even threaten to ban me anymore. What we win one championship and everyone with the word Sarajevo in their name just pisses off forever? i hate that Nash wasted so many years in Phoenix with nothing to show for other than chasing a ring in L.A. I hate that no matter how bad we suck this year, the Suns will still be one up on us for the lottery pick. I hate that I have to rant about the Suns just to feel better about our crappy team. I hate your ugly face. I hate the sun and life forms dependent on it's radiation. I hate that we call our star the "sun", what the crap is that, it is a star, why is it special? I hate that NASA was cancelled and we are that much further away from sending an atomic bomb into the sun, thus ending all life on the planet, thus killing of the Phoenix Suns, thus ending this rant.
Also nice rebound game by the Mavs.

Roddy couldn't keep up in the second half, but still looks like he's our best option in the P&R right now. Too bad he never developed a soft touch inside, bc he gets plenty of open looks out of the high P&R with Dirk, but can't tell you how satisfied I am that he finally junked Mike James. Hopefully Rick keeps it this way.
Too bad Sarge probably was only used to send a message to Kaman. I'm not really opposed to a Brand/Sarge-combo at C. Maybe Kaman will land us something before the deadline and I think you might want to go for it. If not we really just should limit Kamans and Dirks time together. They take away spots and shots from each other anyway.
DaJo was impressive. The backcourt with Roddy is a tough defensive one and it showed again in the second quarter. He does what Crowder should be doing more: Attack.

from espn: http://espn.go.com/blog/dallas/maver...ks-110-suns-95
The Mavs built a 20-point lead in the first half, withstood a Suns run in the second and finished strong for the convincing win.
This was another efficient offensive performance for the Mavs, who are averaging more than 110 points over the last eight games. Dallas shot 51.1 percent from the floor and had seven players score at least eight points.
Shawn Marion, who played the 1,000th game of his career, led the Mavs with 18 points, nine rebounds and five assists. Nowitzki matched Marion’s 18 points, surpassing Allen Iverson for 18th on the NBA’s all-time scoring list in the process.
Vince Carter (15 points, 5-8 FG), Elton Brand (12 points, 6-10 FG) and Dahntay Jones (11 points, 4-5 FG) gave the Mavs big boosts off the bench.
The Mavs won a game for the first time this season in which O.J. Mayo didn’t score in double figures. They had been 0-7 in such games.

Average number of fouls called in an NBA game = 45.2 -- this game 39!
Most of the game was played with a two-man officiating crew after Leroy Richardson strained his right calf early in the first quarter and didn't return. ...
would like to see a return to a 2 man crew. Of course the broadcast companies could not get in more commercials. For proof - look at the avg game time of a NATIONAL broadcasted game versus a game televised only to regular nba team market area. They are typically 10-20 min longer.
For example - yesterday
Lakers vs Thunder - game time of 2:29
Hawks vs Kicks - game time of 2:32
and these games not played to a national audience.....
Mavs vs Suns 2:16
Pistons vs Magic 2:16
Hornets vs Griz 2:09
Trailblazers vs Clippers 2:10

The offense has really come around during the homestand (+ brief Florida visit). 110.25, good for 3rd in the league during that span. Prior to that 101.47 (23rd).
Favorable schedule for sure, but we sure also see the result of increased training, getting settled.
Also on Kaman/Brand/Dirk combos:
Overall numbers suggest Brand/Dirk (-2.13) over Dirk/Kaman (-14.54) outside garbage time (PF/C), but both duos awful with Collison (Dirk/Kaman: -10.68, Dirk/Brand -26.20). Difference why Dirk/Brand come out on top are Roddy/Dirk/Brand-units (+18.68)
