Iverson wanted to play in D-league? Is this a "WTF" thing?

NO.
"Iverson has likewise resisted the Legends' overtures so far this season -- as well as a similar offer last season -- but sources say that the Legends are trying again now because they've moved back to the top of the list in the D-League's waiver line, meaning they'd have an unobstructed path to signing Iverson if he could be convinced to put his name in the D-League's player pool.
The Legends' pitch to Iverson centers around the fact they've just convinced NBA veterans Delonte West and Rashad McCants to join their team with similar intentions, after the Legends signed another 37-year-old earlier this month -- point guard Mike James -- and wound up putting James in position to earn a 10-day call-up to the Mavericks that turned into a guaranteed contract after James completed his second 10-day deal Sunday."

I think some people may be making the incorrect assumption that the Legends' only purpose is to feed players to the Mavs.

It's to boost NAjera up the ranks to the Mavs. Duh. He can't do that without talent.

Yes we are that desperate.
Iverson's biggest problem was his overinflated image of himself. Maybe after a few years in the wilderness, he'd be willing to pass. He'd clearly be on Dirk's team. Its a chance I'd take. Heck, we took a flyer on Mike James...

Does Iverson still have the quickness left to get to the rim? And will his body be able to still take the beating?
Because Lord knows he can't hit anything outside of 10 feet......

Again, the Legends going after Iverson probably has absolutely nothing to do with the Mavericks.

Iverson isn't what we need. Would rather have Tracy at this point.

AI isn't coming. James was just re-upped for the remainder of the season. We have a full roster. Nothing to see here. Najera just wants a vet to bring in fans and win a few more games.

That still doesn't explain why the Mavs are interested in AI!
/facepalm
This thread is hilarious.

So it's a lock? He is coming! What position is he going to play? I wonder if RC will bring him off the bench or just give him the keys to the offense as soon as he arrives. This season just got good. Go Mamwicks

Obviously he wanted to play on the Mavs to pass Dirk again on the all-time scorer's list by hogging the ball. But then the Mavs re-upped Mike James, and AI realized there was no way he'd get the ball either. Checkmate.

Well we just sent Jared Cunningham back to the D-League, so there's a roster spot that Iverson can have.

Sending a player to the D-League doesn't free up their roster spot.

Man, Dallas is NEVER going to sign a big name free agent!

He meant either rotation spot... or roster spot.

If we were really after AI (which we weren't), we'd be assembling the greatest collection of 2002 NBA allstars.
Vince Carter
Elton Brand
Dirk Nowitzki
Add AI and you have 4 of the 11 remaining active players from that year.

Earl Boykins is still available in the over 35 guard but doesn't have a team category.

Derek Fisher - 37
Mike James - 37
Allen Iverson - 37
Antonio Daniels is also 37, maybe the Legends/Mavs should give him a looksee.
