I'm not a sunshine and rainbows guy. If you want that, go watch My Little Pony. I'm not sure what you expect a forum to be. It's not about all of us coming together and reaching a consensus. I hope you're not one of the PC crowd that would crawl into a corner and cry requiring 40 months of therapy when someone hurts your feelings... And then would demand on social media that the person responsible be shamed or that some sort of legislature should be passed to assure that it never happens again.

Comparing Cuban to Donald Trump is just plain stupid and has nothing to do with being a sunshine and rainbows kinda guy.

Not remotely stupid. They are two guys that have quite a bit in common. I'm sure Cuban would tell you the same.

He is what he accuses Cuban of being.....and sometimes he has some good stuff to contribute. For the most part you just dont engage him and move on.

Yuh oh...

Mark Cuban led the Mavericks' pitch for Whiteside, which happened in New York City just minutes into free agency officially started at 12:01 a.m. on Friday. Part of the pitch included an animated video, reminiscent of the one used to pitch Dwight Howard several years ago, per several sources. The biggest factor, though, was the max contract -- a four-year deal worth $94.8 million, with the first year starting at $22.2 million, one the Heat quickly offered him as well.

@Jeff_Caplan: Why did @youngwhiteside meet with the #Mavs when he could have told Mark Cuban to just read his The Player's Tribune piece in a few hours?

@sam_amick: By the time this is all over, the Mavs may have provided leverage for Nic Batum, Hassan Whiteside and Mike Conley. Free agency is tough, man

@EthanJSkolnick: New info on Whiteside deal: it's not necessarily a 4 for $98M max. He agreed to some wiggle room if Durant wants to come.

Amazing that the least selfish superstar in NBA history hasn't had one big fish want to play with him in this age of everyone wanting to team up and create these super teams.

The problem is that it's been an aging Dirk and what else? it takes more than Dirk...

After seeing what Cuban did to Tyson Chandler (or the team for that matter) after the championship, I don't see why any superstar would want to risk being a part of the Mavs. Dirk has sacrificed for years with nothing to show for it.

Then Cuban can throw one seriously hilacious party at the AAC for him!

This is nothing against you but i'm pass wanting a "fun season" lol. IT would be more fun if we had a top 5 pick in a deep draft next year. There's no point in Dirk even being here unless he wants to play for a bad team.

I'm fine with being a bad team with Parsons as long as it meant we were getting a top 5 pick. I don't see the point in getting the 16th or 17th pick every year and "retooling" every offseason.
And its not even about players not wanting to come here. Its the fact that players for the most part are staying put and when you have nothing worth keeping than what do you do?

If this board does die it probably has more to do with the terrible state of the Mavs than it does with the posters on this site.

As much as I detest the Heat organization, I don't wish what happened to Dallas last summer on anybody. Horribly gut punch feeling. Still....LOL these free agent centers who spurn Dallas are seemingly cursed.

It's pretty messed up that Howard, Deron, and Whiteside all chose worse situations.

I got confused when I first read this, since all 3 were FAs this summer... Obviously you're talking about Howard and Deron in the past, and Whiteside this summer. And, yeah, they all chose worse situations... The jury is still out on DeAndra too, considering that Chris Paul and Blake Griffin can both opt out next summer. His immediate situation looked better, but what about longterm?

Ha yes, I mean't in the past.
Mavs need to rethink their cartoon situation.

@espn_macmahon: Even if Hassan Whiteside decided to pull a DeAndre Jordan, the Mavericks would not be an option, according to a source. The Mavs made Whiteside a max offer in the opening hours of free agency but have moved on. Dallas would have to back out of several commitments to create cap space for Whiteside, including the trade to acquire center Andrew Bogut from the Warriors. Two of the Mavs' main free-agent commitments – Harrison Barnes and Deron Williams – are represented by Excel Sports Management, the same agency as Whiteside.

They're all talking about how to convince Whiteside now. Wouldn't hurt to give em a call. But 99.5 percent it wont happen cause I doubt Cuban would try it. I know it sounds good though especially with having Barnes.

Cavs will get another free pass to the Finals next year, Heat are done, they were the team this past season if all healthy I thought could have given them the best run for their money. Bulls and Pacers aren't bad, but I don't see either beating the Cavs. One of those two might replace Raptors as #2 seed though.

The Knicks won't be a big challenge for Cleveland, but they will be significantly better and probably fun to watch for the first time since the 80s.
