I'm right there with you, I wasn't all that impressed with Californication. The SBSM album was the turning point of their career, the &quot;Under the Bridge&quot; time you mentioned. The earlier stuff was absolutley their best:

-Fight Like A Brave
-Freaky Styley
-Behind the Sun
-Catholic School Girls Rule

All of the above is pre-89 stuff you should check out.

I always have hope with every new album that they will revisit their roots a little bit.
