Don't get in VP Cheney's way or he will shoot ya!
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Vice President Dick Cheney accidentally shot and injured a man during a weekend quail hunting trip in Texas, his spokeswoman said Sunday.
Harry Whittington, 78, was "alert and doing fine" after Cheney sprayed Whittington with shotgun pellets on Saturday at the Armstrong Ranch in south Texas, said property owner Katharine Armstrong.
Armstrong said Cheney turned to shoot a bird and accidentally hit Whittington. She said Whittington was taken to Corpus Christi Memorial Hospital by ambulance.
Cheney's spokeswoman, Lea Anne McBride, said the vice president was with Whittington, a lawyer from Austin, Texas, and his wife at the hospital on Sunday afternoon.

If it had been Pat Leahey, it would have been in his buttocks, I'm sure.

I am a Hunter myself. And this is something that all Hunters fear.
Glad to hear he is alright. I know that Whittington is hurting, but I would imagine Cheney isn't feeling so hot right now either.

Angry Left Death Wish
Posting on the Daily Kos, the Mos Eisley of the Angry Left, a reader called "redlief" wonders how to feel about Harry Whittington, the victim in Vice President Dick Cheney's hunting accident (quoting verbatim):
am I suppose to be praying?
That Whittington dies and Cheney goes to jail for manslaughter or that Mr. Whittington recovers and lives a full and peaceful life?
Oh, that's right, were a progessive website.
"Hang in there, Whitti, ol man, we're a prayin for ya!"
A reader of this site, whose name we won't mention in the interest of avoiding unrest in the reader's office, writes:
I just had to vent regarding an overheard conversation at my office. The liberals across the cubicle from me were discussing the man Dick Cheney accidentally shot, and were joking about the fact that he's apparently had a mild heart attack as a result of a pellet that entered his heart area. Laughing about it, one of them said he wished the gentleman would die so it would harm Mr. Cheney politically, to which everyone else laughed.
Normally I roll my eyes and go on with my work when I hear most of their discussions, but this one made my jaw drop. What kind of human beings are these people, that they'd wish an elderly man would die so that it would somehow boost the Democrats politically (which is an extremely questionable presumption in the first place)?
Such morbid speculation has crept into the mainstream media as well. A writer for Time magazine offered this last night:
He's 78. He got hit in the face and body by a spray of tiny pellets. He's back in intensive care. It's not inconceivable that the vice-president may have accidentally killed someone. Let's hope it doesn't come to that. I don't know Texas law; and I'm not a lawyer. But wouldn't this be a case of something like negligent homicide?

Yep. With Cheney you get an accidental incident with emergency medical help on the way.
With Kennedy, you get a drunken philandering murderer who rather than helping a drowning woman went home to shower, brush his teeth to get the liquor odor off his breath and buy time for the alcohol desynthesis to occur.

So (in my kim jong il voice) Awec Baldwhen says that Cheney is a terrorist over in the huffington blog.
Quote:
Cheney is a terrorist. He terrorizes our enemies abroad and innocent citizens here at home indiscriminately. Who ever thought Harry Whittington would be the answer to America's prayers. Finally, someone who might get that lying, thieving Cheney into a courtroom to answer some direct questions.

The comments are pretty hilarious. I liked this one.

Well so far the Moonbat Socialist Leftiods like Alec have managed to politicize 2 funerals, a hurricane and now a hunting accident.
Can they be any more desperate?

and this one.
Quote:
When this happened, I thought to myself, that's the difference between a republican and a democrat: If two democrats went hunting and one shot the other on Saturday the lawsuit would have been filed on Monday morning at 9am when the courthouse doors opened.
Alec has just verified that my thinking was correct.
|
LOL...Can they be more ridiculous is a better question?

Steyn just cracks me up man. It's so pathetic what the newspapers call "journalists".
http://www.suntimes.com/output/steyn...t-steyn19.html
Quote:
Fortunately, the Washington Post had that wise old bird David Ignatius to put it in the proper historical context: "This incident," he mused, "reminds me a bit of Sen. Edward Kennedy's delay in informing Massachusetts authorities about his role in the fatal automobile accident at Chappaquiddick in 1969."
Hmm. Let's see. On the one hand, the guy leaves the gal at the bottom of the river struggling for breath pressed up against the window in some small air pocket while he pulls himself out of the briny, staggers home, sleeps it off and saunters in to inform the cops the following day that, oh yeah, there was some broad down there. And, on the other hand, the guy calls 911, has the other fellow taken to the hospital, lets the sheriff know promptly but neglects to fax David Gregory's make-up girl!
One can only hope others agree with Ignatius' insightful analogy, and that the reprehensible Cheney will be hounded from public life the way Kennedy was all those years ago. One would hate to think folks would just let it slide and three decades from now this Cheney guy will be sitting on some committee picking Supreme Court justices and whatnot.
.......
In Canada, by contrast, the Western Standard (for which I also write) stood firm in its decision to publish the cartoons, and as a result is suffering legal harassment from Muslim lobby groups and has been banned from both Air Canada and two of the country's leading bookstore chains, Indigo-Chapters and McNally Robinson. Paul McNally of the latter defended his action this way: "We feel there is nothing to gain on the side of freedom of expression and much to lose on the side of hurting feelings." Not exactly Voltaire, is it? "I disagree strongly with what you say but I will fight to the death for your right to say it as long as it doesn't hurt anybody's feelings." Maybe it could be Canada's new national motto.
It's easy to be tough about nothing. The press corps that noisily champions "the public's right to know" about a minor hunting accident simultaneously assures the public that they've no need to see these Danish cartoons that have caused riots, arson and death around the world. On CNN, out of "sensitivity" to Islam, they show the cartoons but with the Prophet's face pixilated so that he looks as if Cheney's ventilated him with birdshot and it turned puffy and gangrenous. C'mon, guys, these are interesting times. Anyone can unload the umpteenth round of blanks into the bulletproof Chimpy Hallibushitler, but why not take a shot at something that matters?
Or perhaps it would just be easier to change the term ''free press'' to the ''Roses of the Prophet Muhammed press.''

It's CDS (Cheney Derangement Syndrome) (hat tip to Michelle Malkin). Here are two magazine covers set to hit the stands tomorrow:
That's the only possible way to explain it. Irrational hatred of the highest order -- CDS.

It just goes to show, if you hurt the media's itty bitty feelings they will throw you on the front page in front of:
- muslim killings all over the world
- iranian nukes
- hamas taking over in palestine
- dirk nowitzki winning the 3pt shootout.
They absolutely have NO perspective.

Exactly. (Nice work-in of Dirk's 3 point win, btw)
Speaking of the continuing "protests" regarding the cartoons, isn't it obvious that the Islamists are using that as a pretense, much like the looters and vandals did in LA after the Rodney King trial, to commit crimes?
Also, did you hear about the minister in India's Uttar Predesh government offering an $11.5 million bounty for anyone that would behead the cartoonists?
When will someone in the West stand up and condemn this lunacy?

Yes I do think it's just an excuse. It looks a lot more like the Nazi party using the excuse of the jews selling them out in WW1 to me and using threatening tactics (ala brownshirts) to intimidate their political foes.
It's a lot more political than rodney king which was just a mindless rabble with very little purpose.

dude - You're right. Rodney King wasn't a great analogy except for the excuse part. The difference is, the folks who rioted after the Rodney King trial just wanted to vandalize things and steal electronics. The people who are driving these "cartoon protests" want to fan the fires of hatred in the Muslim world to move things toward a global conflict between civilizations.

My wife was tired of hearing me bitch. She cancelled the subscription 5 weeks ago.
