Default Mavs vs Memphis Game Day Thread

Mavs get revenge for the earlier loss in Memphis. They'll win by 13 behind an inspired performance from Nash.

The mavs finally pull it together like they should have after the LA game. Dirk gets back to his old self again and the mavs hand the grizzlies a severe butt-kicking.

I'm a little worried about tonight's game. This will be a tough game for us unless we come out and put the Grizz in their place. We'll have to play very good ball to do that. Hopefully we will.

The Mavs can't find a rhythm in the set offense in the first half leading to a 57 - 44 deficit.

Nelly scraps the offense in the second half...

Mavs come out hot offering a barrage of lethal threes & devastating turn-around jumpshots...

But our fearless Mavs only make 41% of them for the game & lose 106 - 97

Lorenzen Wright equals season high for points & rebounds going for 21 and 13.

The Grizz are on a 4 game losing streak...including losing last night at home to the Knicks. We need Dirk to come out strong and not get passive. They will have Posey guarding him again because he got away with mugging Dirk in the first game(here's hoping the refs don't allow that in our building). They are very deep with the addition of Bonzi coming off the bench with Swift, Outlaw, and Battier. If Nellie starts Jamison I think we can handle these guys by double digits....but if we go with Fortson or Howard and get behind by double digits then we may be in for another long night.

sounds a lot like the king game....

I hope to see that same fire and heart and effort on the defensive end that we saw in the second half of the King game.....if they put forth the effort, they will win in a landslide!

Why I think the Kings game could be the turning point (even though the Laker game should have been?) I've never heard them talk so much about how they had FUN playing. They ENJOYED the game, they LIKED playing together, they had a GOOD TIME as a team. PLEASE let this carry over.

But...I think this'll be tough.

That's the idea, Sike!

The problem I had with the Kings game is that the Mavs won by foregoing convention & they made their jumpshots. There will be games when they make those shots... no matter who they're playing. But until we see real execution - both offensively & defensively - I think these Mavs are a pick 'em team. If they're hot they win... if they're not they loose... and there's no way to tell how they'll come out until they hit the hardwood.

That said... if the Mavs play with the defensive intensity they're capable of... and if they control the defensive glass... and if Memphis' jumpshooters are harrassed... the Mavs should win.

If the Mavs also intimidate Memphis' guards... and discourage them from posting up... the Mavs win by 20.

I guess Howard is now taking over Jamison's spot. In the Kings game, he ended the ballgame with Jamison on the bench.
