You know it's bad when your NBA comparison is "N/A"

Hope he can contribute. Has a history of success, so... fingers crossed. But the real guy I want from Georgetown on this team next year is Otto Porter.

Wow, MS? Well, I'll root for him.

Nowhereman, all that means is that haven't scouted him enough to really give him a comparison. And generally the only ones who get comparisons are the guys who are first round potential and/or highly touted.

Yeah - I know. Just making a little bit a joke there. I think he could be pretty good - JJ Barea beasted at the D-League All Star game IIRC (along with Pops Mensah Bonsu), so maybe another D-League all-star could contribute here.

Averaging a decent 15-7-4 in 37mpg...

I watch very little of college basketball, but I happen to catch a double OT game starring Otto porter, and I immediately thought of the mavericks and envisioned him in a uni. If he comes out this year(soph), I want him.

With that said, he is a good guy based off an article I read and wouldn't be surprised if he stayed through his senior season. He turned down the AAU circuit during high school which is nuts but I think that's awesome.

Let's hope we fin the next Lin. Surprised they didn't give Dentmon a shot, but they had a chance getting a very close look at him down at the Legends so I assume they have their reasons.

Scouting report on Wright is he is a feisty tough good defender, he plays hard, he is a average shooter, and has pretty good vision. He can stick in the league as a backup but so could far more than 29 other pg's and there are only 30 backups so he better play well the rest of the way

I don't knock the effort in trying to add a valuable piece and I hope he gets to play and plays well, but correct me if I'm wrong, we now have 4 backup point guards?

Dude seems alright. His coaches have liked him. He played hard. He was 9th in the league in APG even if his A/To was a little low. He passes well into the post and out from the paint well--two things we need. He's a decent defender, but only an average shooter. He's much closer to DoJo/Collison as far as offensive skill/shooting, though.

I highly doubt he gets burn. He's a guy like CDR that will probably play well in limited minutes and then move on.

I've been to a handful of Hoya games this year - he's clearly been on another level than the other guys on the court. No one in DC thinks he'll be back. I don't know how good of a pro he'll be, of course, but I've seen him going in the 10-12 range in some mock drafts. That was a while ago - he's now more likely a top 5 pick.

So it looks like grabbing people from the D-League is the secret loop hole to improve your team after the trade deadline. Only it sucks...

Most of you know already, but for those that don't.

http://espn.go.com/dallas/nba/story/...iple-sclerosis

Chris Wright Joins Mavs While Battling MS

ESPNDallas.com's Tim MacMahon on G Chris Wright becoming the first known NBA player to acknowledge having multiple sclerosis when he signed a 10-day deal with the Mavericks.

SAN ANTONIO -- About a year after he was barely able to walk due to a frightening disease, Chris Wright was running the floor with the Dallas Mavericks during Wednesday's practice.

Wright became the first-known NBA player to acknowledge having multiple sclerosis when he signed a 10-day deal with Dallas and joined the Mavs in San Antonio. That's a fact that Wright is especially proud of after earning a call-up from the D-League.

"That's definitely one of the things I pride myself on, being the face of it and being an inspiration and motivation for people to keep fighting." said Wright, who averaged 15.5 points, 7.0 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 1.6 steals for the Iowa Energy this season to earn a D-League All-Star bid. "I made history with this."

There's not a cure for MS. Can there be a relapse? Absolutely. But with the way I've been progressing and the way my body has been ... it reduces the risk of that happening again. I just go from there and see what happens.

-- Chris Wright
Wright was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, a chronic, unpredictable disease that affects the central nervous system, while playing for Olin Edime in the Turkish Basketball League last season.

The first sign of the disease occurred when his foot gave out while he was running line sprints at the end of a March practice. Wright lost sensation and felt pain and numbness in his right hand, right arm and right leg that night, prompting him to visit multiple doctors and specialists before the disease was finally diagnosed correctly.

Common symptoms of MS include fatigue, numbness, loss of balance, poor coordination, blurred vision and problems with memory and focus, according to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, which estimates that more than 2.1 million people are affected by the disease. In severe cases, MS can cause paralysis. Wright originally was told by Turkish doctors that his basketball career was finished.

"The doctors told me that, but I didn't think so," said Wright, 23, a former Georgetown star who went undrafted in 2011. "I just knew it'd be a process, and when I got back, it'd be a good story."

Wright returned to serious basketball activity in July. He missed an opportunity to play in the NBA's summer league but was ready for the beginning of the D-League season and seized the opportunity. The Mavs opted to call up Wright after waiving reserve guard Dominique Jones this week.

"Chris is a true point guard that's consistently ranked as one of the top point guards in the D-League this season," Mavs president of basketball operations Donnie Nelson said. "He's a high-character, tough competitor who's had to consistently overcome personal challenges like MS to put himself in this position. The physical obstacles he's had to contend with are significant."

More on the Mavericks

News, notes and analysis of the Mavericks from ESPNDallas.com's Tim MacMahon, Richard Durrett and our team.
Blog » ESPN Dallas »
Added coach Rick Carlisle, who is uncertain when Wright will get his first NBA playing time: "It shows determination and an element of resourcefulness, which I think is a very important quality on any NBA team, to have as many resourceful guys as you can. I know he's very pleased to have this opportunity. And it's going to give inspiration to others that may have similar conditions."

Wright, grateful to the Mavs given his medical situation, said his disease is in remission. He has not had an episode since the one in Turkey, which lasted two weeks, and visits a specialist for a checkup every six months. He takes an intravenous dose of Tysabri, which he says is the strongest MS medicine, once a month.

"There's not a cure for MS," Wright said. "Can there be a relapse? Absolutely. But with the way I've been progressing and the way my body has been -- it helps that I'm an athlete as well -- it reduces the risk of that happening again. I just go from there and see what happens."

Wright's arrival in the NBA happened to occur during MS Awareness Week. It also came weeks after the birth of his first son, Chris Jr.

"It's all a blessing," Wright said. "This has been a great month for me."

They pretty much already know about the player considering summer league and the D-League. Had they found him useful they would have chosen him over Mike James about two months ago.
