Honestly think that there is a good chance we can trade into the 15-25 range. Valentine just might be there then. If so, I'd absolutely snatch him up. Dude is top-5 talent. He's just 22 (age) and has a messed up knee (health), but he reminds me of DeJuan Blair who is healthy as can be despite missing major knee tendons.

We're apparently deciding between:
Dorian Finney-Smith
Alex Polythress
Troy Williams
Tyrone Wallace
None are particularly exciting to me.

@SportsSturm: 2011 was weird, too. Dal traded out of 26 to get Rudy Fernandez. He never played here. They then traded him and Corey Brewer for a 2nd.
@SportsSturm: 2012. That time you had 3 picks in the 10 before Draymond.
@SportsSturm: 2013 was the save $450k to offer to Dwight Howard which moved the Mavs away from grabbing Giannis or Dennis Schroder.
@espn_macmahon: @SportsSturm And even then, it was the pick Shane Larkin over Gorgui Dieng and Rudy Gobert...
@SportsSturm: 2014 was the Lamar Odom 1st. 2015 was Simba. And 2016 is the Rondo 1st. It is kinda amazing this team isn't a bigger mess.

Sounds like Charollotte is willing to give up the #22 pick to anyone willing to take Lamb off their hands...

We can't afford to relinquish the cap space ($7 million a year) at this point. Unfortunately one of those things where you wish you knew where the major free agents are signing.

A few things I've come across on twitter: - According to Skin, Mavs aren't planning on offering Parsons the max.
- Timberwolves willing to move Ricky Rubio for essentially nothing... as long as whoever trades for him also takes Pekovic.
- Thaddeus Young is on the block and Woj expects the Nets will get a first-rounder in return.

Hoping I don't sound like a broken record but we will sorely regret it if we pass up on Gary Payton II. At worst he's a Tony Allen-type for all the point guards in the West. At best he's our starting point for a decade.

Is he even going to be available when we pick? I'd think he would be long gone by 46.

Five NBA Draft Sleepers to Get Excited About
Not sure how many of these guys will be there at #46, but most of them look like they could help right away...

@ESPNSteinLine: Hearing that we shouldn't be surprised if high second-round picks in tonight's NBA Draft fetch the full $3 million in trades tonight

I like LeVert because he has potential to be a very good player in this league. Injuries are definitely a huge concern but he was projected as a late first rounder in mock drafts last season. At 46 he's the type we should take a chance on imo.
If Seldon is there we should take him if LeVert is off the board.
Payton II would be my 3rd option.

Yeah, no need to worry about injury concerns at #45 -- you just go for the most upside... Odds are against anyone getting picked at that spot anyway.

@WojVerticalNBA: League executives say that there continues to be a great effort by teams to move out of the mid-to-late first-round.

@bobbykaralla: Donnie Nelson says Mavs don't plan on moving back, but said they're willing to pay to move up for the right players.
@EarlKSneed: Donnie Nelson: "We're going to treat this like we've got a lottery pick." Mavs haven't ruled out moving into 1st round for "right player."

@TheVertica: The Sacramento Kings are acquiring the No. 22 overall pick in Thursday’s NBA draft from the Charlotte Hornets for guard Marco Belinelli, league sources told The Vertical.

@SteveBHoop: Told Celtics and Philly engaging in last-minute talks for No. 3. We'll see who -- if anyone -- blinks first. ... Sixers really want Dunn.
@WojVerticalNBA: Chicago, Boston still talking about a Jimmy Butler trade, league sources tell @TheVertical.
@WojVerticalNBA: Sources: Boston is engaged with the Bulls and Sixers as Celtics inch closer to going on the clock at No. 3, league sources said.

Looks like Ben Simmons was unlucky enough to get drafted #1... Sucks for him.

It's amazing how slow the draft moves when you don't pick until #46... Why am I still surprised by this after all these years?

Boston just picked Ante Zizic (C) from Croatia at #23... Wasn't that our pick?

I'd be thrilled if we could buy/ trade for a pick and take Deyonta Davis. He reminds me of Tristan Thompson.

Damn would be nice to buy now into the late 1st round, some potential steals available
Our Pick was #16...

Painful that I still watch the draft, hoping the Mavs will somehow pull something out of there ass and get me excited(it would take so little too). Just some sort of trade, to get some sort of young athlete...
But alas,nothing.......

So it was the guy I've never heard of from France, not the guy I've never heard of from Croatia.... Gotcha.

@chadfordinsider: The Mavs take Purdue C AJ Hammons at No. 46. Lottery talent. 2nd round intangibles caused him to fall this far. Worth the gamble here.

Yeah but the problem is so does McGee. Everything I'm reading and hearing indicates he has about the same motivation as McGee....hopefully he has a brain that can be manipulated by Carlisle.

*SIGH*
I know I shouldn't expect much at #46, but as the league gets faster and more versatile we take a guy who can only play the 5 and has questions about his motor?
