i don't get the love for entourage. yes, piven is great. but after that? it's a beat-down of bad acting, especially grenier.

now, Curb your enthusiasm is a great show.

as for new shows this season that I think I'll be watching:

Journeyman
Bionic Woman
Chuck
Nashville (watched the pilot - it was bad, but hey, i live in nashville, so it's cool to see the local places)
Kitchen Nightmares (Ramsey yelling at random people? I'm there)

will watch the pilot, but expect not to watch any more:

Kid Nation
Cavemen
K-Ville (maybe - just cause I'm from Louisiana originally)

This is what I am currently watching, and what I am looking forward to watching soon...

Current:
Mad Men
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Top Chef
Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares Revisited (the English BBC America version on Thurs. nights)
Solitary 2.0

Will be watching soon:
Heroes
Battlestar Galactica (November)
Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares (American version)
Kid Nation (I'll give this child exploitation show a chance)
Dexter Season 2
The Wire (It's supposed to start airing in Jan., but it's not too soon to start getting excited)
The Shield (Late 07 or early 08)
Lost (although Feb. of 08 is too damned long to wait)

I've watching Top Chef right now as well, but that really counts as a wife show. Were I not married, I would not be watching it, although it's entertaining.

I have several wife shows, some of which I'm willing to admit, some that I'm not....

Awww, c'mon, you can't rag on entourage for having bad acting and then overlook it on Curb your Enthusiasm.

For the record, I love both shows.

I don't know if you expect them to act like good actors... or act like the personality they are playing... because they are doing great on the latter.

Vince is swave but dumb. He's suppose to be.
Drama is a douche.. he's suppose to be.
E is exactly like he's suppose to be.
Ari is a badass. Ari's wife is badass.
Lloyd is hysterical.
Billy Walsh is a crazy artist.

They are all playing their roles perfectly.. what exactly do you have a problem with?

Of course curb your enthusiasm has bad acting. Larry David's not an actor. Although by now, he should be considered one. But any bad acting is overshadowed by the plotlines and hilarity of the episode.

To me, entourage doesn't have anything redeeming like that. Nothing special going for it outside of Jeremy Piven. I recognize it has some good supporting actors/actresses in minor roles like Carla Gugino, but of the main 5 characters, only Ari is worth watching.

Fluid, I understand that they are playing characters. That's what acting is. So I'll give them credit there - they've been able to keep an acting job. But the dialogue between the 4 is badly acted, and the weakness of the other 4 especially shows anytime they share screen time with piven.

I just don't get the love for it. And I haven't just watched one episode and stopped. I watched it, didn't like it. But others told me to give it some more shots. I'm open-minded, so I did, and it's still bad.

I have 3 wife shows..... one that I actually enjoy.

the new adventures of old christine (the only comedy I watch and the only "wife" show I enjoy)
(I am distancing from these two..... but I like that my wife enjoys them)
Desperate Housewives (severe beating)
Grey's Anatomy (severely severe beating from hell)

Many of my friends watch entourage...I'm debating getting into it.

You find Grey's Anatomy to be a bigger beating than Desperate Housewives? Wow.

Grey's Anatomy started out as a wife show for me, I certainly wouldn't have started watching it if she didn't, but I enjoy it quite a bit now. Sue me I guess.

My wife shows:

How I met your mother (which I'm starting to like)
ER ....... eh. bored with it, but I'll watch it.

She tries to make Grey's Anatomy a wife show, but I won't let her. And since they moved it to the same time as The Office, there's no way in hell.

Lucky for me, she dropped Desperate Housewives last year, but now that we have a DVR, I'm afraid that it might make a comeback.

I also have a feeling that this "Bionic Woman" will become a wife show.

I too am forced into ER as a wife show. It's not terrible, really, and it actually used to be pretty good. But it's pretty plain and boring now.

we still have the last 5 episodes of Grey's on our TiVo from last season. Just no desire to watch it. was a wife show for me, then my wife started not liking it. so now we just avoid it.

i watch top chef. I'm a foodie, so it's not a wife show for me.

And i think i mentioned this before, but i really like How I Met Your Mother. Not a wife show for me. Great interaction with the main characters, but they need to lose the laughtrack.

yall are so whipped...my wife loves dr90210 and all that TLC garbage and she knows better than to try to get me to watch it...its a little thing I called scene control...

I will venture in every once in a while willingly...only to remind myself what amazingly good taste I have...and that my wife is very, very hot.

I have other things I prefer to do without my wife. If I want to do those things, and watch some television, I need to watch television with my wife, which I'm happy to do...

Unless a Mavs/Cowboys/important Rangers game is on.

There are also other things people like to do with their wives, and then it also becomes necessary to watch the wife shows.

But sike wouldn't know about that one.

2. we are all about "the other thing"

unless the mavs are playing

Ok, here's my verdict on the new shows that I've watched so far:

Monday:

Chuck (NBC) - good first episode. Entertaining, some action and decently funny. I'll stick with it.

Journeyman (NBC) - interesting premise, above average execution. but it held my attention. I'll be watching again.

K-Ville (FOX) - HORRIBLE. just a TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE show.

Tuesday:

Reaper (CW) - I liked this one. Funny, with a mix of supernatural. Sticking with it.

Wednesday:

Kitchen Nightmares (FOX) - Decent, although i hated that ramsay just gave away a new kitchen as opposed to making the owners sacrifice frivolities to get a new one. but i'll continue watching.

Friday:

Nashville (FOX) - pretty ridiculous and obviously scripted and staged. but i'll keep watching because it's comically bad, and because i like to see Nashville on TV.

I realize that some alien dude has suggested, or perhaps it was an old forgetful scientist, that Bionic Woman was a chick show.

I think you are wrong. I was thoroughly entertained by the first episode. I recommend giving it a shot.

Did any of you guys walk in on the wife watching Dancing with the Stars and catch our Cubes kickin his heels? What did you guys think?

Two things

1. I liked Chuck a lot. This means that it's going to be cancelled. Oh and gift shop girl is still soooo hot. I don't know what her real name is...

2. Bionic woman....struuuuuugling. I am intrigued enough to want to watch the 2nd episode. But holy crap, what an awful pilot. They clearly had about 3 hours of stuff they wanted to put in there and couldn't. How many scenes were there in the first 5 minutes? 8 or 9? It was skipping around like crazy. If it hadn't been for the other bionic woman/evil chick, it would've been terrible imo. Pilots often go that way. So I'll give it a few more chances.

I just watched a season of Grey's in less than a week. I must say, it's much better than some of you make it out to be.... infinitely better than Desperate h'wives... and MUCH better than Heroes. Heroes is the type of show that would normally be right in my wheelhouse if it wasn't so damn mediocre. I might pick it back up, but that's only because I've lost quite a few shows going into the fall.

Hey, nothing wrong with Grey's. I've said it all long, it's a really good show.

But, it's not better than Heroes.

Murph, I love Grey's. I didn't start it when it came out and I'm catching up on the boxsets now. I'm about a quarter way through the 3rd season.

I gave Private Practice a chance and it was okay. Audiences will be sorely disappointed if they're expecting Grey's part two. I'll give it a few more to see if it picks up.

I'm rolling through my Dexter season 1 DVD right now, I'm pretty psyched for the new season. It may have the best title sequence of any TV series I can remember (though the Wire is up there).

Chuck exceeded my expectations in the pilot. I'm locked in until further notice.

Burn Notice on the USA network (summer) was very good. Right amount of action and suspense with a lot of humor as well.

I cannot stand that guy. He is maybe the least likeable character on television IMO.

Did anyone catch the awesome LOST reference on 'Chuck' ?

It was great. I know that show is pretty goofy....but I'm really enjoying it for some reason so far.

Yup, I caught it. Was cool.

It is goofy, but I really like it as well.
