RE:The Official Antoine Walker Thread
If anyone will be traded this year, I bet Walker will be the first to go. I like his game except for he jacks up way too many 3's. But at the same time, he makes the rest of the team better. I would also like to see him improve on his passing as the season continues. Why does walker have more shot attempts than dirk this year?

RE: The Official Antoine Walker Thread
I like Antoine a whole lot more, now that he is a Mav. But, I agree with Razor, he seems to be the most expendable.

I´m a big walker fan, and I think he fits very well into this team, although he still shoots too many 3´s, but wasn´t nellie urging him to do so?

RE: The Official Antoine Walker Thread
If you look at playing time and comments from the coach, I'm not sure how you deduce that Walker is the most likely trade target.

RE:The Official Antoine Walker Thread
Will Nellie's love affair with the point-forward, I doubt that Walker is the first to go. Maybe if he has 8 turnovers a game and is taking a lot of ill-advised shots. Then maybe but I doubt that happens.

RE:The Official Antoine Walker Thread
How is Walker the most expendable??
He actually opens things up for Dirk and makes Nash's life a little easier out there...
A 6'9 guy with the type of skills he has is NOT and never will be Expendable. Jamison can Score and Rebound well(not an uncommon set of skills, I might add)
And let me say this : You are going to have to live with Walker shooting 3's from time to time because that's in his game. Plus, As long as he continues to go down low and produce in a positive fashion, I don't think you should even care that he takes 3-pointers here and there.....
Nellie likes him; Cuban likes him. Him being traded? I just don't see it happening.

RE:The Official Antoine Walker Thread
If Walker is going to be taking significantly more threes than Dirk and isn't looking for Dirk when he is passing he will have to go. I find it kind of disturbing that Walker has so many more 3 point attempts and he has only been he for such a short time... what will it be like after 6 months or something when Walker is really comfortable here?

RE:The Official Antoine Walker Thread
Walker is not more expendable than Jamison, a view I've already explained in a couple of other threads. In addition to what's already been said, Nellie is not going to give up the sought after point forward as long as we have a pg capable of scoring the way Nash can. He's way more versatile than Jamison, and as long as he continues to go inside and cut back on the ill advised 3's, he can take all the open threes he wants.

RE:The Official Antoine Walker Thread
What has impressed me most about Walker this season is his defense. He's played better defense against Duncan that Raef did (which by itself makes the trade a success), and he didn't pick up any stupid fouls. He plays good help defense in transition.
As he grows together with this team, he is selecting better shots and he is playing smart. I think he is molding into the role as point forward. He and Nash are working together more and more as ball handlers. He and Dirk are working together more and more as fellow forwards. He is able to adjust his game to whatever creates the most problems for the team. The last two games he has been driving to the basket, and has been very effective. Against SA, he continually drew mismatches and exploited them. I think he is helping Dirk learn to do the same.
His three point shot looks horrible. Actually all of his shots look flat, but if he is putting them in, I don't care what they look like.

There's no such thing as STYLE points in a basketball game. Just get the ball into the hoop any which way you can.

Because Walker creates his own opportunities to score more often than Dirk does.

RE:The Official Antoine Walker Thread
Where I have been really impressed concerning Walker is the number of rebounds he is getting. He is consistently in there banging and has good hands to snare them. He doesn't give up on rebounds that often and fights for everything no matter at what point in the game they are. IMO Dirk needs to take a little lesson in that regard. 9.9/game is what Dirk was rebounding last year and what Toine is rebounding now (Dirk is at 7.8 now). Never would I have thought that he would compare this well to Dirk on the boards.
I am still upset with the amount of threes that Walker takes. No matter how much he is handling the ball from point forward, he should never be shooting more threes than Steve and Dirk (even when Dirk is in a temporary 3's slump). But as Jacktruth says, Walker is starting to play smarter ball, which is very encouraging, since this was always the biggest knock on him. Lets hope he can continue in this vain.

RE:The Official Antoine Walker Thread
You know, I didn't expect to like Walker but after watching some games, I've found I like him quite a lot. Versatility is always a key benefit to a player, he's found ways to be productive. I'm actually very impressed with the way he's seemed to integrate in w/the Big 3, it isn't odd to see him on the floor w/them. And I'm greatly encouraged by Nellie's comments about him, especially how he's easy to coach.
I don't really see him as the most tradable. It's definitely possible, but I think Nellie likes the way the team plays w/him in the lineup.

Let´s trade him for Paul Pierce then .
Nash, Pierce, Jamison, Dirk, Bradley with Fin off the bench.

RE: The Official Antoine Walker Thread
Antoine Walker is one of the top PF's in this league. He brings loads of excitement and energy to the Mavs, and is a great low post player. I think, with time , Walker and Dirk will become one of the best forward combos in the league.

RE:The Official Antoine Walker Thread
If i'm the Mavs i'm not to sure if I want to get rid of Walker just yet. In the playoffs you are going to need some post up game and if you don't plan on bringing a center in here who can post up then your best move is to not make one involving Walker. The guy is great in the post. He is our best post up player which is why I cringe to see him take so many 3's.

which seems to be what he said...
i agree, his longer shots look bad and at 30.6% from the three....not looking great.... considering over the last four years the % has gone steadily downward!

Aj is more effecient in the post but you can D up on Walker in the post and the guy will still find a way to get to the rack. He just doesn't makes them as much as AJ does.

why O why if Walker is such a good post player has he only been to the line 27 times...this number seems rediculous me....a good post player should get to the line more often.....by the by, he's only shooting 59% from the stripe!

If Walker keeps this pace up and is averaging a double-double he will most likely be an All-Star along with Dirk and Steve Nash...Have we ever sent 3 players to the All-Star game?

no.
BB: really think Nash and Walker will get the nod....Nash's points have gone down...oh you and I know he deserves it, but you think he will get chosen by the coaches???? Walker has a chance cuz Webber is out...we'll see, it would be nice!

I'd imagine it is because he isn't drawing the fouls.

RE:The Official Antoine Walker Thread
Well....Last night wasn't exactly a night where Walker did much.
Although it did seem at times that he was the only one who even attempted to REBOUND down low....Still....This was not a performance that Walker would store in the archives, so to speak...
I really wished, though, that Nellie could've left Walker in there to at least grab 2 boards and get his 7(or 8?) double-double of the season. Hell...The SUNS kept their starters in FOR ALMOST THE ENTIRE FUKING GAME....Why couldn't Nellie leave Walker in there until he got his 2 boards, then sit him down??
Oh well....Walker and Fortson are good friends BUT I wonder what Walker thought of Fortson when he did what he did?

RE:The Official Antoine Walker Thread
Well...Tonight is a big night for the Mavs.
This is their chance to prove that they can win at least ONE STINKING road game without Dirk....
Walker must step it up and bring some intensity/Energy/Desire/passion and ATTITUDE tonight.
Oh and making his shots wouldn't hurt either.
He and the Mavs, IMO, are DUE a Big Road victory.
Let's see what Walker does and hope that it's enough for the Mavs to get a much needed bounce-back 'W'.....

RE:The Official Antoine Walker Thread
I agree, Rake.
AAAAAAAARRRGGGH!! This blows.
Walker had the Energy/Passion/Effort/desire and ATTITUDE tonight....
...but he didn't make MOST of his shots.
Also, Finley showed up WAAAAAAAAAAY TOO LATE.
And What the hell is Nash doing out there? 6 TURNOVERS?????
When your Point-Forward has only 2, while your PG has 6, you know you are in deep doodoo....
Anyway, a Good statistical night for Walker, I guess....
13-30 for 30 pts, 15 boards, 4 assists and a steal (and only 2 TOs)....
But alas, It was NOT enough to help the mavs to a Victory.
Hopefully, we get a better more TTEAM-WIDE EFFORT tomorrow (god knows that the rest of the team aside from Walker) will be WELL-RESTED(sarcasm-laced word)....

RE: The Official Antoine Walker Thread
Walker has officially taken over this team, he is now averaging more shots than Nowitzki, our #1 option. When you are shooting 29% from 3, give up the rock, Raef did, and we still won 60 without his 3 s. Nellie needs to call the rarely used walker finley two man game. Walker posting up then Finley cutting. Something like the kings do with Webber or Vlade to Bibby or Peja.

That is a GREAT Idea, Kid California.
Hopefully, Nellie thinks of this tomorrow 'cause we are going to need EVERY TRICK and Offensive scheme in the book to come away with a victory over the T-Pups...
