The Official: MOVIE REVIEW THREAD
Hey guys (and gals )

I'll try and post movies that will be coming out every weekend. So if you've seen a good movie lately or even one that we should not waste our money on come in and let us know.

The Official: MOVIE REVIEW THREAD
Now here are the movies coming out the weekend of September 26th...
DUPLEX
OVERVIEW
A young New York couple (Ben Stiller, Drew Barrymore) decides to seize the opportunity to move into the duplex of their dreams. Their only obstacle? The tenant upstairs, a sweet senior citizen (Eileen Essell) who won't budge. When the old woman, not nearly as nice or as feeble as first thought, becomes unbearable, the couple begins to plot her demise.
THE RUNDOWN
OVERVIEW
A man hires a Los Angeles bounty hunter named Beck (The Rock) to travel to the Amazon jungle to retrieve his smart-mouthed, dimwitted, double-dealing son, Travis (Seann William Scott), who's been leading a life of adventure in Brazil. But Travis is reluctant to leave, and when he tells Beck about hidden goldmines, the two join forces and head to Helldorado, where they encounter a mysterious woman (Rosario Dawson) and the town's half-crazed fortune-hunting leader (Christopher Walken).
UNDER THE TUSCAN SUN
OVERVIEW
In this film loosely based on Frances Mayes' popular memoir of the same name, Diane Lane plays a San Francisco author whose recent divorce leaves her suffering from depression and a nasty case of writer's block. On the advice of her best friend (Sandra Oh), the 35-year-old woman takes a vacation to the Tuscany region of Italy. She likes it there so much that she buys a villa in the town of Cortona. Her new life becomes even more exciting when she finds love in the arms of a handsome local (Raoul Bova).
LOST IN TRANSLATION
OVERVIEW
The second feature film from writer-director Sofia Coppola (The Virgin Suicides) is set in Tokyo, where two bored, melancholy Americans — a fading movie star (Bill Murray) shooting an ad for Suntory whiskey and a young married woman (Scarlett Johansson) with an ambitious, neglectful husband (Giovanni Ribisi) — become fast friends after meeting in a hotel bar. The two spend an adventure-filled week together taking in the sights and getting to know each other.
NATIONAL LAMPOONS PRESENTS: DORM DAZE
OVERVIEW
A college student living with his little brother in a dorm hires Dominique, a prostitute, so that his younger sibling can finally lose his virginity. Hilarity of the highest order (read: pratfall after pratfall) ensues when a foreign exchange student also named Dominique is mistaken for the prostitute.

Underworld 2 ?
Here's some qoutes I pulled for the sequal to Underworld.
09/18/03
Normally, a movie has to have box-office success before a sequel deal can be made, but not so for Underworld. "After the way it screened in Toronto, we made the deal," Sony Screen Gems President Clint Culpepper told Variety. "They loved it." (Variety)
Based only on the success of the Underworld premiere in Toronto, Sony Screen Gems has already made a deal for a sequel. There has been no news as to whether Kate Beckinsale or Scott Speedman will reprise their roles, but it's likely they will.

Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King update..
09/15/03
The 3-minute trailer will appear before showings of Secondhand Lions, beginning Sept. 26. Lions actually opens Sept. 19 but the trailer won't be in theaters until its second weekend. The word is the trailer will feature almost entirely new footage and that it could appear online before it hits theaters. (USA Today)

Batman 5 update......
09/11/03
Christian Bale is Batman! Warner Bros. made it official today. Filming is set to begin early next year. Said Nolan, "What I see in Christian is the ultimate embodiment of Bruce Wayne. He has exactly the balance of darkness and light that we were looking for." (Warner Bros.)
09/19/03
Expect more casting news soon, including (maybe) Kurt Russell as Commissioner Gordon. (Batman on Film!)

Yeah, good idea. Let's trust the brain-dead Canadians to determine what makes a successful Holywood movie. Only our intellectually comatose neighbors to the north would enjoy a two hour music video like Underworld. What's next, are we going to screen LOTR III in Syria, and then dump the project because they don't approve of the elvish women showing their ankles?

i've heard that it's the best performance of Murray's career. He's really changed/grown alot as an actor over the years..but, stripes and caddyshack are still classics

Haha was it that bad? I know that dialogue and plot will be filth, but I heard there is plenty of violent action.

If you're looking for "plenty of violence with no plot" I'd suggest doing a tour in Iraq before I'd suggest watching Death Race...
