Sucks they matched, but I think it was expected. Agreed it?s good that they responded quickly, so Nico can shift his focus elsewhere.

Put all focus on a center.
PJ seems like a longer shot I?d love to have though.

No Thybulle. Back to SnT ideas for PJ? Grant williams was their hope so that is probably dead. I don't like the pick swap with Spurs being non protected for at least top 5 in 2030.

Don't know the logistics behind structuring a MLE contract as a S&T deal (might not be possible under the CBA -- anyone know?) but would dangle the 2nds we received in the Grant Williams deal if possible.

We owe Portland a debt of gratitude for matching so quickly.
What is really cool about all the acquisitions is that we are getting pieces other teams value. One way guys with limited potential are worthless at trade time. That's why we still have THJ and couldn't get a bag full of dirt for Wood. Once we have decent players, we can always trade them for equally decent players who are a better fit.
Too bad we wasted a decade trading down in the draft to clear cash for superstars who were never going to come here. At least now, we are building assets.

I don't hate Blazers matching. Mattise is a really good yet highly unorthodox defender but Grant and Green are solid and they are more well rounded as players.
I'd be fine with Holmes and Lively starting the season if it plays out. It would theoretically force Kidds hand to use Lively. I'm only interested in a center if it's such an upgrade that pushes DP down the ladder.

Of course they would match that offer. Good thing the Mavs got the Grant trade done first.
I'm way more interested in Zubac and PJ Washington anyway.

Thing is, there is absolute dogsh*t in straight free agency right now. Everyone remotely decent got way more than the MLE. We're not going to get anyone who's an upgrade over what we have right now with just the MLE, let alone pieces of the MLE.

I'm perfectly ok with not getting Thybulle. I'm having trouble seeing how he'd fit into the rotation. Seems like he would get all of Green's minutes.

Nah, give me all NBA defenders any chance. Helps depth and total defense.

Thybulle was unplayable on the Sixers last season. He did better with Portland, but they sucked so hard that it's hard to tell if his better numbers were a fluke.
Feel that the main advantage of getting him would be the ability to move Green in a trade.

I'm wondering if the Mavs could engage the Lakers in a SnT involving Wood and Vanderbilt. Lakers now have a bit of depth at the PF by signing Rui to a long-term contract and picking up Taurean Prince on a one year deal. They also only have AD and Jaxson Hayes at the 5. Seems to me like Wood would be a good fit there and I believe LA can only offer him the vet minimum. Wood is in a similar position as Schroder was last year with time and $ running out and perhaps only a few options left on the table. Vanderbilt's contract is expiring and around $5M.

I want a better shooter /offensive player. I want 2-3 big wings that if you double Kyrie/Luka they can knock down the 3. I know we just got curry and Boston guy but I need 1 more. Trade for someone

There aren?t any Cs
This was a truly awful FA class for centers
Poeltl took 20m
Plumlee refused to leave Clips
Rest were not significantly better than our committee
But even the meh ones are taken

I think keeping the MLE in pocket for post trade deadline buyouts is not a bad deal. I'd be tempted to extend Wood one year. Wood and THJ are shooters and eventually someone will go for them to dump longer term salary.
Bol bol is in Spotrac available FA list. Has he cleared waivers.
Probably best to just move on and explore trades. There is likely someone that may be available not even discussed. Or just try to rejuvenate a player like Langford or Bazley on a cheap 1 year prove it deal. Both have decent defensive potential. Derrick Jones too.

Saric is looking solid. I think he is waiting for the Warriors, though.
Bol Bol would be cool, but no roster spots to @#$ around and find out.

Vet Minimum for center Nerlens Noel and call it an offseason?
Roster would then be:
Luka/Curry/Wright/MilesJr/Walker
Kyrie/Hardy
Green/Exum/THJ
G-Will/O-Max/Kleber
Noel/Holmes/Lively/Powell/McGee

It's REALLY quiet
And the Holmes/OMax trade did not go through when Lively's did.

I thought of a crazy trade.
Holmes cannot be aggregated so we trade Holmes for Bogdanovic. Then in a separate trade we trade THJ/McGee for Capella. We trade out $37.5m and gain $39.3m
Maybe we throw in the seconds we gained in the Bullock deal, maybe Atlanta throws in a small salary to lower their salary further.

I fear Oubre would be another Wood under Kidd. A high scoring guy that doesn't play much defense.
I always like him though, but I'm guessing there is a reason he can't stick with a team.

The Dallas Mavericks have acquired Richaun Holmes and the draft rights to the 24th overall pick Olivier-Maxence Prosper from the Sacramento Kings in exchange for cash considerations.

4/120 extension for Dejounte Murray. They gotta be wanting to shed salary after giving out these kinds of deals.
Get Capela!

fwiw...I'm excited about this team! heading into the draft, I wasn't sure I would be. Nico has made some fantastic moves! I like bringing Seth back (how many times last year were the Mavs sunk not necessarily by defense, but an inability to hit a key shot?)...and rest of additions should help shore up the defense. Not sure how much the 2 rookies will contribute, but expect it to be something, and likely something significant (key roles off bench). Play good D and rebound...that's what is needed. All their other acquisitions can do that, I think.
Also thinking not enough is being made of Luka's weight loss...which I think will lead to him playing a more up tempo game...which should help all the young guys.

Just get on IG. There?s pics of him and he?s clearly slimmer than he was at the end of last season. Didn?t he start the season in good shape though, and gain weight through the season?

I really don't see anyone biting on THJ and McGee. Overall, I am happy with the acquisition though. I think we may not make any more moves until the deadline.
