Finley IS a leader. In 03-04, you'd always hear Josh and Marquis talk about how Finley was mentoring them and guiding them in practices. Every player on the Mavericks calls Finley a leader. Dirk says the Mavericks are 'Finley's team.' Finley has taken Dirk to the side and talked to him about wanting Dirk to take a lot of that leadership role over. If you can't see that, then I pity you.

Now this "leader" argument about dirk/fin to me is really silly.

Sure fin is a leader of the team. Dirk is the leader on the court and a leader of the team.

It is good message-board fodder since no one knows what the heck they are talking about (me included) other than their opinions/observations. No data unless you want to hear quotes.. And if you take quotes then dirk/fin are both the team leaders.

Finley was the leader of this team. His talents have diminished, but leadership in the locker room is a hard-to-find commodity on many NBA teams.
