Default Poetic justice in Sacramento

Sac has the ball down by one with 4 seconds on the clock in OT. Peja goes up for an 18 foot jump shot and gets fouled by Hassel...no call....made my day

The crybabies fouled Garnett and the Refs called a travel. WTF was that. Anyway KG proved why he is the MVP. He played PG in overtime since Cassell was fouled out.

It's absolutely disgusting how officials swallow their whistles in the closing minutes. No, you don't want to have a ticky-tack foul decide a game in the final seconds. However, it's atrocity to allow a blatant non-call to impact the game like the officials have repeatedly done this off season.

I was really hoping Peja made that shot...but the irony didn't escape me. I guess if you're down by one in the playoffs and your opponent has possession, just foul the shooter and call it a day.

I watched the last 2 quarters and overtime of this game, and the refs were ridiculous. just plain horrible. The Kings do not have a thing to bitch about, because their second best player didn't pick up his last 5 fouls in a span of 2 1/2 minutes.

Cassell was being screwed by the refs, and his free throw shooting and ball handling at the end could have helped the Wolves stave off the comeback that led to OT.

But whatever, the kings lost, the wolves won, all is right.

Yeah...at least two of those calls on Cassell were pretty questionable.

Speaking of physical play....I only saw the last couple of second of the Miami/Pacers game but my god....Harrington literaly tackled someone...Grant walks off the floor with a bloody nose......is that defense?

I agree that the refs shouldn’t completely swallow their whistles in the last ten seconds. The buzzer beater is the most exiting player in the game, so it doesn’t make much sense to discourage it.

That being said, the players have to adjust. Being able to get good looks on a last second shot is a skill that requires practice. Further proof that Nelson did Dirk a disservice last season with his last second play calling.

A couple of things I’ve noticed:
1) You have a much better chance of getting a good look if you’re trying to dribble hard to a spot for a pull up, as opposed to pump faking in one place like Dirk and Peja did.
2) The swallowing of the whistles works both ways. Learn how to push off to create space. Jordan made a living off of this.

This quote from the AP report on the game:

``I just think a guy gets that close to a shooter at the end of a game and forces him to change his shot and gets a body on him, it should be a foul,'' Adelman said. ``I feel bad for Peja, because he deserved more respect than that.''

I suppose then, that Dirk deserved more respect, too. If THAT foul had been called, the series would have gone to a Game 6, perhaps a Game 7, and who knows what happens?

Just be happy you're there, Rick.

Ain't that the truth? I can't stand that little ego-maniac alien dude.

KG is proving critics wrong this year, IMO. He was playing lights out last night. But I still want him to fail, but only because of the alien factor.

But was it really a foul? Hassel was straight up and down, his arm didn't break a 180 degree angle. The side camara angle made it look like it was a good non-call.

The KG traveling call in the last seconds was a good call. KG slipped and slid as he caught the ball and the only reason he didn't fall down instantly is because he fell into Brad Miller. When Brad Miller backed off KG fell. It was a good call.

KG and Hoilberg also didn't get the calls when they were fouled on shots so it was legit that Peja didn't get the call. Plus you could tell he was hoping to get bailed out rather than make the shot.

That was an excellent game, I'm glad I stayed up for it. That last so called "foul" on Peja was exactly what he deserved after he fouled Dirk in the first round....

Worrrrrrrd. Hope the guy can handle a taste of his own medicine. The tides turned in the other direction this time. They've won one game and lost one game due to the absense of a whistle so they're even now.

I'd love to see Sacramento get screwed out of the series on last minute fouls that weren't called. That would make my day. So count me in as one who wants the queens to go down to the tpuppies.

I can't root for a team that beat my team. I wasn't even planning to watch the series, but I'm a basketball fan...what else am I going to watch.

I don't really like KG, but I guess I'm in the minority that actually does like the alien. The guy has ice water in his veins…always has. I always felt like Nellie shipped him out too quickly. Then he talked him down in the media when he hadn’t even talked to Cassell.

I actually hope the Kings win. I dis-like Garnett a little bit more than i do Webber. But I hope LA wins the west(Detroit to win it all).

I don't understand why people don't like Cassell?

I may not care for some of the individual players, but as a team I've always enjoyed the watching the Kings play and I'm rooting for them big time against the TWolves. Peja's 4th quarter shooting the other night was a thing of beauty.

I'm hoping that the Kings knock off the Wolves. I'm tired of hearing about how you have to have the best player in the league to win a title. If any team out of the east or the Kings were to win the title, the people arguing that you have to have the best player would have to shut the hell up for awhile. The Kings obviously don't have someone that's anywhere near being classified as the best player in the league. No one in the east does either.

I didn't know the NBA gives out trophies to teams who tied a second-round series.
