Walker Relieved To Join Timberwolves

After arriving in Minnesota, Antoine Walker sounded relieved with his fresh start — even if contending for a playoff spot with the Timberwolves looks like a huge long shot.

Though Walker said he had a good time in Miami, he voiced his frustration Friday that Miami is so image-obsessed and that body shape is so important to the average person there.

"Minnesota is so inclusive-- ever body type is accepted. Fat isnt just accepted; it's the norm here. In Miami everyone wanted me to work out-- do cardio, you know?"

And while Walker may be pleased with the culture of chubbiness in the midwest he won't be able to cover up with a puff-paint sweatshirt and toque while on the court-- something Walker isn't ready to accept.

"David can shove it. He knows what I'm talking about" Walker said during his first appearance since being shipped to Minnesota with two other players and a first-round draft pick in exchange for Ricky Davis and Mark Blount, a response to NBA commissioner David Stern's strict policy on uniforms.

Anybody notice he played zero minutes in the 2nd half up till that moment? Shows how competent Minnesota's coaching staff is. You've got Gomes, Telfair, and even Buckner who could shoot the 3 and they draw up a play for someone who hasn't played the entire 2nd half. Nice job.
