Wow.. he takes over for like 20 regular season games, comes back from an 0-2 deficit in the playoffs to win 2 in a row on the road, and gives the best team in the league a run for its money.. yeah let's get rid of the guy.

Dude you're a jackass, Nellie would have won game 5 and 6 easily.

Avery is a master motivator but he don't know $hit about X's and O's!

The Mavs should have knocked out PHX! AND DEEP DOWN IN YOUR HEART YOU KNOW IT TO BE TRUE!

Avery was schooled by JVG and choked the 2nd halves of game 5 and 6.

WAKE the F up!

PS: Pooh Richardson was a $hitty NBA player, and sucked my knob at UCLA, go get a new username!

^^ I agree..

AJ didn't know his azz from his foot..

During the regular season our 4th quarters were AMAZING..

Not any more..

Nellie would have beating the Suns in 5 at a min 6..

3 games we went into half with a nice lead, and fell apart..

Give me a freaking break. Nellie would have spent the entire season servicing Nash and whining about having to watch him in another uniform.

Good riddence to Nellie, and shoudl have quit before this season. He quit on this team in much the same way Carter quit on the Raptors and McGrady quit on the Magic.

When your first team all NBA Player sucks all postseason, your starting center gets in foul trouble every game, you have no true point guard and jumpshots are bricking left and right it is most certainly the coaches fault. You're right.

Phil Jackson would be a great fit, but Cuban gave Avery his word that he would get a five year deal to coach. It is the Coach's fault when you fail to mention to foul Phoenix to prevent them from scoring. The mavs did the same thing to T-Mac in game 5 of the Houston series.

anybody wanting to get rid of Avery Johnson should just commit suicide and/or stop watching the Dallas Mavericks and all NBA teams. you don't know a goddamn thing about basketball if you want to get rid of a guy like Avery in the situation he was in...

I was the first person on this board to publicly denounce Finley, and I'm one of the first calling for a coaching change.

Avery is a great motivator, there may not be one as good in the entire league. God knows with these pansy as$es in the league who can't be motivated by championships and money a motivator is a great find.

But motivation gets you only so far and we saw the dark side of Avery hyping up the players to win. Josh Howard punching a ball across the court. There must be blend of baskeball knowledge X's and O's and motivation. Avery simply does not have the X's and O's. No time out after the Nash 3 or maybe just telling Terry to stay on Nash and take away the 3 point shot. Crap he could have fouled Nash, allowed him to penetrate get a layup. To me the blame ultimately falls on the coach.

Avery appears to prepare fantastically for games, but during games he looks terrible. The Mavs were constantly having to adjust to two teams that frankly they were better than. It should have been the other way around. This is coaching!

This team is no different than the Laker team Phil Jackson went to years ago. Lots of talent but unable to get the job done. The Mavs are too good too early and need a coach that can capitalize on the talent that exists, rather than wait for a coach like Avery to learn the X's and O's. He may have it figured out in 3 years, but there are no guarantees that people like Josh Howard or Dirk stay healthy.

I say make a move for Jackson and if he is unable stay with Avery for the long term. Jackson has the ability to get the Mavs to a championship as early as 2006, I just don't feel Avery has this ability.

Motivation is a piece of the puzzle, it's just not the only piece!

Until Jackson is unavailable, he available.
Its fun going to the playoffs every year, but winning a championship is what it's all about. Just ask Jazz fans.

The triangle in Dallas land. Now that would be intersting. Terry really isn't a true point guard, Finley is a spot up shooter. Dirk would become the most versatile player ever to play in the triangle.

It is amazing to see how the spurs handle the suns. Let Amare and Nash have theirs and shut down qrich and Marion. What a concept? The mavs did the exact thing to Houston.
