Default Cat fight on the house floor.

Meorrrr....so catty.

The Republican arguing with power-hungry Barney Frank is Patrick McHenry. McHenry rose to offer an amendment that would exempt American Samoa from the stem-cell bill — a clear dig at the fact that Samoa, which is home to StarKist factories that employ nearly 75% of the island’s work force, was conspicuously exempt from the minimum-wage bill that had passed the day before. Why is that important? Because StarKist is a branch of Del Monte Foods Co., which has its headquarters in San Francisco, Nancy Pelosi’s district.

Frank was not amused. This is sure to be four of the most eventful minutes of your weekend:
Barney Frank throws a hissy fit on the house floor. This is pretty funny if you are so inclined. This is about the Pelosi StarKist minimum wage exemption.

What's more pathetic is that the minimum wage really WILL screw the samoan people. But the democrats are too p**** to fight for it because it will make her look bad. Who gives a crude if the "little people" are put out of work.

just a typical day in the chambers of our nation's law makers....btw the exclusion was not done by pelosi (nice innuendo with delmonte/san francisco) but by the non-voting us rep from samoa. he's a democrat.

the existing minimum wage regs do not apply to workers in american samoa. there's also no tariffs on product imported to the usa from samoa. no tax on income a us citizen receives in samoa.

samoa gets a ton of special considerations...

found a dol study saying a minimum wage increase will not result in higher unemployment. labor is not a major cost and productivity is growing.

The exclusion was Pelosi's doing. If you think otherwise, you are still wet behind the ears when it comes to Washington politics. There is NO WAY she didnt sign off on it, before it was outed, and there is no coincidence that it benefited one of her local constituent backers.

Call it what it is, and go on - Politics as usual.
