Default UPN Pulls the Plug on 'Enterprise'

'Star Trek' on Hiatus

February 04, 2005
The UPN Network, which has never in its 10-year history been without a Star Trek series on its schedule, has pulled the plug on Star Trek Enterprise, which will end its four-season run on May 13th. Paramount insists that the Star Trek property is not dead, though it is likely to go on hiatus for a year or two before returning in a new incarnation -- possibly in the form of the long-rumored Starfleet Academy series.

Enterprise, which got off to a great start four years ago when it captured an audience of 13 million for its debut episode, has fallen on hard times that have only gotten worse this year when the series moved to Friday nights where it is currently averaging just 2.9 million viewers -- fewer than the Sci-Fi Network's Stargate SG-1, which airs in the same timeslot.

It was a terrible show. Not even the biggest Star Trek geek is crying over this one.

It had some promise in the beginning, but it was sunk by poor casting and poor storylines. There will be a next next generation in ten years or so, I suppose.

Ah, Ape it had its moments. I'd rather watch it than *chuckle* WBs Star-Trek poser tv shows. Of course if you compare it to Capain Kirk's Enterprise its not as good, but the special effects are definitely better. Though I do admit this years episodes have been a bit lame. Too many "to be continued." The appearance of Data's creator was kinda interesting. Gosh there were a whole bunch of links to the future in it. Though I did find it strange that people many hundred years ahead of us always look back and quote accomplishments of the 20th century and never 21st or 22nd.

LOL. How do you go from 13 million viewers to 2 million. Oh well. Never watched the show and never really wanted to watch it. UPN has a couple of more shows they should be pulling off of TV as well.

somehow I thought you'd be crying, Sike. One fewer role for a character-actor like you.
