Barron needs to find his own ride home tonight. Dude should be cut before he even gets a chance to board the plane.

Romo would have gotten sacked if he didn't hold him anyway.

Seriously, that sucked. What an absolutely hero play by Romo that goes into the trash because our right tackle didn't even bother to block. Seriously, he pretty much held him from the start.

Expletive!

The Cowboys snatched defeat from the jaws of victory tonight. Terrible plays at the end of both halves seal it.

If he had actually bothered to block him, maybe not. Seriously, he never ever attempted to give it a good block, he just let him slip right by him.

It looks that way because of the give-up hold, but that's hard to really say. Bottom line is that Barron needs to be gone.

I feel bad for Roy also. As much as people have like me have trashed him, he's been a pretty good sport here in Dallas. He deserved a chance to be a hero just for one night, but God must have something against the guy. He can't catch a break for whatever reason.

What really hurts was that it was a 3-man rush and he had he.p inside. He pushes Rak to the inside and he's got Barber to chip and Davis to help with the double team. A three man rush and this idiot has to hold. Seriously could Young or Brewster be any worse?

Yep, if you can bear to watch the replay here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HlDrR...ayer_embedded#!

Barron has Orakpo in a hold from the moment of contact. Doesn't ever bother to properly block him. If he forces Orakpo to the inside, Orak would have ran smack dab into Barber. Davis was also sitting there looking for someone to block.

I don't see how Brewster can be any worse, I seem to recall some flashes from him in preseason. Young might be worse given that he's still recovering from a sprained knee from what I remember. Even then I might take him over Barron.

That play at the end of the first half was an unbelievably stupid play. I mean, who does that other than the Cowboys? Who calls up a play with 4 second left on your side of the field down THREE TO NOTHING IN THE FIRST HALF? Who knows how the rest of the game goes, but we lost by 6 so you do the damn math. Also, if our kicker makes that first FG we could kick a tying FG to send it to overtime there.

So many stupid penalties, dumb calls, poor decisions, etc. What stands out the most to me though from a positive side? Dez is the real deal, Miles is no 1-year wonder, Romo is the man when the OC doesn't put him in shit positions with horrible calls, and our defense played pretty good and allowed only 9 points (1 FG was taken off the board by an accepted penalty).

It took a Giants loss last year to make Romo a smarter QB. Maybe it takes a Redskins loss this year to make Ginger a smarter OC. But yeah, whoever said it above, get well soon Kosier/Columbo. Get well soon.

Too many mistakes...back up OL playing due to injuries, play calling compensating for injured starters.

No problem going for it at the end of the 1st half, serious issue with Choice fighting for nothing and not protecting the ball. Also question Romo on that play...why throw a dump pass with no time on the clock...throw it out of bounds once the play is lost.

Very frustrating game...When do the starters get back? (Columbo and Kosier)

Bet you didn't love the last 5 seconds just before you noticed the flag was thrown. I know that was about the only time I smiled all night - then of course Alex brought me back to reality.

Funny thing by the way... I looked up Tennessee's total yards for their 38 scored points and it was roughly 40 yards less than we collected to score 7. Sigh...

this is all true... even BEFORE the catch, and actually even BEFORE the 4th and 10 conversion, deep down I basically just assumed that the redskins would figure ut some way to give away the win.

THis hasn't been a good 15 or so years for building up confidence... and i fear that the overall loser veil that hangs over everything redskin may remain as long as the owner does... and snyder is about 14 years old and does not intend EVER to sell. sigh.

all of that said..... woot!

my several cents:

1. field goal kicking concerns (check)
2. mind-numbingly stupid play calling (check)
3. boner killing penalties (check)
4. really good defense that does everything but get turnovers (check)
5. Felix picks up 40 yards per touch, Jason Red-F__ Garrett is careful not to let him touch the ball too often (check)

It's almost like I've seen this team before.

This team lacks discipline, and that starts from the top-down...

I hear Bill Cowher is still unemployed (oh, but there's that whole "top-down" thing I just mentioned, and Jerry's ego is definitely up at the top...)

So much for my great night in sports....I can go on forever about what went wrong

I am worried about the the kicker..to go 10 of 11 in preseason then miss a 34-yarder in the 1st reg season game is mind boggling.

16 carries by Marion and Felix combined?...Cmon Garrett...and the O-Line needs Kosier and Columbo badly....Every snap, Romo was hurrying his back drops and only hitting his check down recievers due to that terrible protection.

Dez did look good but he made some simple rookie mistakes as well.

*Sighs* at least the yanks got swept

Don't blame Baron. Don't blame Garrett. Don't blame Wade. Hell, don't even blame Tashard.

My deepest, sincerest apologies for thinking that I could make my first post in a while a GDT starter. My bad. Hopefully, I can choose more opportune times to start the GDT in the future. It was selfish of me to do that this week.

I don't even want to discuss the game, however a couple notes from the broadcast:

1) The Miles Austin butt cam was awkward. Alright, its cool to talk about his great leg strength and how he's really hard to tackle, but then to zoom a camera in on his butt and legs, cropping his head totally out of the picture? And I think they went back to it a second time, also. So let's let Kim Kardashian keep that picture to herself from now on.

2) I may be in the minority here, but I kind of liked that Night Vision camera shot. It allowed you to really focus on the players, especially with the green Eagles jerseys kind of blending into the ground.

Barber and Jones were averaging about 5 yards a carry, but only get 16 rushes between the two? Especially when the protection was breaking down any time Romo was in the pocket more than 2 seconds.

Twice, I thought Williams should have caught a deep ball. I honestly don't know what happened on the first, because they never showed a replay, but I guess the CB got his hand around and knocked it away. Still, Williams had the inside position and has to make that play (it was near the sideline at the Redskins 15 or so, would have been a huge play). The second was the one were I guess he got tripped up on a long post (skinny post is the correct football diction, I think). Maybe it was unavoidable, maybe I'm just mad because it was Roy, but somehow I think Austin catches that ball.

Speaking of Austin, he's a stud. That's all.

The defense wasn't awful, but I come away from that game feeling like they were more lucky than good, even though they only gave up 6 points. The bobbled FG, the Washington drops, the penalty on the INT, on and on.

Please stop leading with your head, DeMarcus, please please please please please.

I don't really want to watch it, but according to Sturm, Barber should have chipped and that would have been it, they would have won.

My deepest, sincerest apologies for thinking that I could make my first post in a while a GDT starter. My bad. Hopefully, I can choose more opportune times to start the GDT in the future. It was selfish of me to do that this week.
I don't see how you can be so hard on yourself when this guy attended the game:

I love Sturm, but I don't know how you can blame Barber here. Barron was holding Orakpo from the second he touched him. By the time Barber got there, the penalty had already been committed.

What saving grace can I take away from Week 1?

Indy, SD, Minnesota, NYJ, SF, Cincy, and Atlanta lost. Some really good teams, most of which made the playoffs last year or have been picked to make the playoffs this year, lost. You can't win them all and despite this being one of the easier games on our schedule let's just hope that we learn from this loss. Plus if Columbo/Kosier are back next week we are significantly better anyway.

We will be fine - ultimately I know that. You can't consistently lose with this much talent. We may end up 10-6 this year instead of 11-5 due to this damn loss, but that should still be good enough to win the division (unless NY plays out of their minds).

Sturm did his video breakdown, and he ended up changing his mind on what Barber should have been doing.

I would just add this: After further review, it appears that Barber carried out his assignment. He saw no need to help because RT and RG should be able to handle 1 LB. The problem is that Barron must set up to not be beaten to the outside. If he cheats to the outside and Orakpo shoots inside, then Davis is there to help (and so is Barber). But, Barron was beaten to the outside. I think this must be a scheme issue where they depended on Barron and now spend all week wondering why they were silly enough to depend on Barron. Lesson learned.
Sigh...
