Oswalt to TX. I like the signing a lot more now than I would have at the start of the year.

I hated last night, turned it off at 9-0. Checked again and 17-0. That was bad........

Even on off days I didn't expect that.

Nice report. Hopefully, the last few innings are a sign of things to come for Perez.

Can you imagine how ape s*** everyone would have been going a few years ago with regards to the Oswalt signing along with his first start? I've barely heard a thing about the guy... Oh how things have changed in Rangers Land.

It was pretty huge. He looks amazing out there. Granted it was vs the Rockies, but if he pitches like he did last friday, he's easily the 1st or 2nd best pitcher on the roster.

But still figured out how to win.

Now it took a simple pop up in the infield for Kinsler that they didn't even get a glove on to do it -- LOL

How, and I do mean HOW was that not an error and awarded a base hit? ? ? ?

It's always a hit. If you misplay a fly ball so badly that you're not even in position to make contact with it, it's a hit. Why? I don't really know. But, you see an outfielder break in a ball that's over his head and ends up missing it by an inch or two.. it's a hit. You see a little bloop that falls between two outfielders and an infielder.. it's a hit. That's just the way official scoring go.

But if the guy would have stood still and not gone back on it -- it might have hit him in the head.

Totally an error on the 2nd baseman. Not sure how any scorer could have seen anything any different.

The second baseman had like 5 seconds of hang time to stand still..........LOL Guess it got too complicated for him.

I understand where you're coming from.. And I agree that it should be an error. But, it's not according to official scorers. If you judge the ball incorrectly and don't actually get to where you need to be to make the play, it's not an error. If you don't move and let the same ball just drop down and bounce off of your head, it's an error.

But typically, mental mistakes or judgement mistakes are not ruled as errors. I for one would love to see official scorers given more room to manuever on this one.

Rayburn isn't known for his defense. But, that's always been ruled a hit. No scorer would have done differently.

I don't know any official MLB scorers, so I will take your word for it.

I played though back in the stone ages and have been a volunteer coach for kids for the last 15 years, and every pitcher on the team and most all the other players would have called that play an ERROR. The play should have been made. Texas scored a run from it. It was not a PLUM (play left un made) because the player actually advanced. (a Plum is like a ball in foul territory that is dropped or a run down that you blow, but the runner doesn't advance)

When/Where I came from all plays were a Plum, Error, or Hit.........and although it was scored a base hit....WOW... infield pop-up where everyone waits for someone else to get it and the one who should runs himself out of the play may be a MLB base hit -- but not on the fields I play on.

Score it how they may..........

I understand your point, and I should say that I don't agree with it being a hit. The thing they seem to look for is the proximity of the play. That space was created with Rayburn camping under where he assumed it would come down (about 15-20 feet away). I was at the game, about 5 rows up, and it seemed the jetstream just hammered the ball. Rayburn had to start sprinting to make up for it, eventually diving and missing.

On another note, I've always noticed that most anything that involves extra effort, such as sliding or diving, that results in a close determination of error or hit, seems to lean towards hit.

One more observation, the home players get a little hometown loving (not all the time) with the official scorer. But I'm sure it would have been ruled a hit most place, all things considered. I feel for the pitcher in that situation, but that's just the way baseball go.

By definition, that is a hit. It would have been a hit in any major league stadium for the home player or for a visitor.

If you consider yourself a Rangers fan, Josh Hamilton fan, or a fan of sports, you should read this story.

WTH?!!! I turn to Rangers to drown out the Deron disappointment to find they are down 16-0 in the 6th inning!! Time for a pick me up movie I guess...

Pretty crazy I agree. the Sox are just on fire right now. Every hit they get just barely blows by elvis or rides the foul line. Just one of those nights lol.

If we make to the WS we HAVE to finish the job. I would hate for us to be referred to as the "Buffalo Bills" of baseball

Obviously winning it would be awesome. But even if somehow they go and lose it is a pretty incredible feat. The only team to lose consecutive world series then win the next one is, I may have the decade wrong, the 1920s Yankees.

Hot damn, that was a hell of a throw just now by Elvis at third base. Kid may have a major league career ahead of him.

That 56 mph curveball followed by the 71 mph curveball for a strikeout was a thing to watch.

Does it bother any of you nerds out there when commentators talk about "velocity" when what they are really talking about is "speed"? Velocity is a vector quantity, speed is a scalar one. It bugs the hell out of me. What's wrong with just using "speed?"
