Default PGT: No one beats the Bobcats 17 times in row

I felt like I was being trolled tonight. Up by 8 with 3 minutes to go.....

Carlisle needs to address Collison/Mayo individual defense.

Wright should have played more

I don't pin this on the backcourt at all. Kaman was dead weight. The frontcourt didn't rebound nor do they offer a last line of defense.

And why didn't Crowder play? Did he get injured last game? And what's with the drooling over Vince by the commentators. He hasn't been that good to me.

Yeah, I definitely don't blame this on the back court. They have lapses, but Elton Brand hasn't lived up to what I thought he'd bring this year. If he and Kaman both have a bad night, then it will probably be a long game.

I'm not pinning the loss solely on the back court but the last few games their individual defense has been matador like. Just stay in front of your man every once in a while.

How did Carter find himself defending Sessions down the stretch with Collison and Mayo on the floor?

Crowder was benched because MKG was having his way with him.

I'll pin it on the backcourt (if you throw Carter in as part of the backcourt.)

Mavs were up by 4 with about a minute to play. Haywood gets fouled by Collison. That foul created the poor rebounding opportunity in which they capitalized.

Cartter grabs a rebound with about a minute to play and instead of holding the ball and setting up the offense and using clock. He flings it wildly to Mayo who had no chance of catching it. Easy turnover that would have wasted another 20 secs off.

Collison takes a really bad shot near the goal from Crowder with under a minute to play.......

And there is no excuse for Troy Murphy to play nearly 10 more minutes than Brendan Wright.

+8 and Murphy missed a dagger three that went in&out.

4th quarter was pretty much 8on5. I felt like back in the finals 2006, we are playing horse crap and the opponent still need all the possible help. Unbalanced whistles all over the place.

Mullens pulling back Carter but instead of the loseball call they call a bs foul on Carter seconds later.

The highlight Collison with the attempt to block Haywood, stroking him softly and bang - and 1 that lead to the brick, off-rebound and the tying basket. Comedy pure. And before that carter throwing the ball away...

So pissed. Stupid team, stupid refs. Yeah i blame them because the Bobcats didnt deserve the win either...

No question that both Collison and Carter can be mostly blamed for not salting this game away at the end of regulation.

Boy, how quickly this whole damn thing has turned into a rotten clustereff of epic proportions. If I have to watch this sadsack bunch of excuses for FINISHERS play one more close game in the final minutes, I am going to wash my eyes out with soap. That was a pitiful exhibition. PITIFUL! Their mothers should be ashamed.

As bad as most of the team was, Carlisle was equally as bad tonite.
I know there are a ton of injuries and he's doing the best he can
with what he's got but MAN that was some seriously strange substitution patterns

Anyone else notice in the last few games some friction between Collison and Carlisle?
Against Toronto Carlisle pulled Collison after a bad play and quickly diagrammed something up for him and Collison couldnt get away from him fast enough, avoiding eye contact. And then tonite Collison wasnt in the huddle and was staring off while Rick again diagrammed a play near the end of the game. Expected to see Roddy checking in for him and then was surprised to see Collison back on the court.

Collison needs some tough love, he's been stinking it up out there. If collison is going to get an attitude he's not long for this world. If it comes down to collison or carlisle, cubes will be taking carlisle.

I talked to him after that Toronto game and he said that Carlisle was right and understood what he was trying to tell him.

Dallas is -55 on offensive rebounds to start the season (115-60). To date, Dallas is the second worst team in the league in terms of 2nd chance points allowed (108, 15.4/game). Detroit has 117. -55 in Offensive rebounds is the worst OReb +/- in the entire league. San Antonio is the second worst, but they're -30

I'm not gonna be too high, or low on this team until we get back Dirk, but there are definitely worrying signs, looks like rebounding could be a season long problem, and although the defense was actually all right so far, it can also evaporate for minutes, which obviously wouldn't allow us to do anything significant this year. We just have to be patient, potentially, the team can be an ok rebounding (top 10'ish), and a good, (probably top 8) defending team. They just need time to figure out. Our offense can be top 5 obviously, i don't see any nagging problem there for this team. Gotta stay patient with them, that's almost a completely new team, don't forget.

Right or wrong (pun intended), the decision to play Murphy over Wright has to do with rebounding. I don't really agree with it, but the Mavs are getting killed on the glass.

And yeah, Collison needs to stop dropping his shoulders and sulking when things don't go well. Get after it!

In other news, Mayo seems to have come back down to earth. Both of our guards are being trapped and having a bit of trouble responding.

And yet when the strong rebounder that sucks at everything else can't hold them off the glass, you might as well play the better shotblocker and scorer in his place.

Do you think the layup line would have happened as often had the Mavs had a good shotblocker in there?

Seems like the defenses of the other teams have adjusted to Collison and Mayo, so they need to figure them out. Mayo, at times, holds the ball to long before he makes a move.

But, until Dirk is back we will never know how good this team can be!

I agree that the trio of Mayo/Collison/Carter had some seriously stupid mistakes, but all of the pressure is on them when Brand and Kaman do their disappearing act. There should be no reason whatsoever that Murphy grabs more rebounds than either of them. None. Brand, imo, has been the biggest disappointment so far on this team.

And I don't think Mayo has come back down to earth. He is still very good offensively but just average to meh on defense. I guess my point is that the Mavs probably wouldn't stand a chance without his offense. He just needs to stop fouling.

I don't think this loss can be pinned on any single player, but we really need to be getting something out of Brand if he's going to continue playing over 25 MPG. And it looked like Vince and OJAM were the only guys that wanted any part of the ball with the game on the line.

Heard a report on rotoworldl saying Dirk is slated to miss "at least another month" I really hope that is not the case. Updates seem to be thin on the big fella so far. Was holding out hope he would resume on court activities in the next two weeks (assuming with another week or so of on court to get him ready for game shape).

It is interesting the Wright went back to playing center exclusively last night after playing with Kaman for significant stretches in the last Charlotte game. I'm not going to gripe about it too much, though, because Wright's a terrible re bounder and we're getting killed on the glass every night right now.

We just need to get Marion back and then Dirk and this won't be a discussion point anymore.

Personally, I'm very concerned with Kaman right now. If he's going to play defense like this all season then he'll need to keep shooting 80% from the floor to remain helpful. He's saying the right things, and I have faith in Rick, so I'm going to remain hopeful for now, but he's been very bit as bad defensively as he has been good offensively.

Something needs to be done about the rebounding.

This has to be one of the worst rebounding Mavs teams ever.

And yeah, Collison needs to stop dropping his shoulders and sulking when things don't go well. Get after it!

In other news, Mayo seems to have come back down to earth. Both of our guards are being trapped and having a bit of trouble responding.
The only reason Murphy is a better rebounder is because he doesn't do anything else. He doesn't rotate defensively and he doesn't challenge shots. Wright rotates and challenges and that makes rebounding tougher. There is no doubt in my mind that wright would be a better rebounder than Murphy if he didn't defend at all and just got into rebounding position early.

I wouldn't be too concerned about Kaman. He admitted that he isn't 100% and isn't in shape. Add that up to a back-to-back, and the odds were against him in this game. The question is how long it will take for that calf to stop bothering him.

I think the team got a bit cocky after 4-1 and started making some mental errors. The coach made some in this game as well. But hey, I saw on espndallas that the team has led at halftime in all seven games so far. Fairly encouraging tidbit in the midst of two straight losses.

I bet we could get Tarpley and Oakley for cheap.

Not to mention, Murphy's rebounding numbers weren't very good the past couple of years anyways.

Carlisle was one of the only people on the planet that couldn't get enough of Murphy.
