Glass half full is we should be 5-0 if not for some silly lineup miscues.
Glass half empty is Luka needs to be infallible to win.

Reggie Bullock commenting on Kanye?s antisemitic post ?I?m riding with you gang?
Amazing how dumb players are. Especially Reggie who stands up for the marginalized trans community.

Again, Luka needs to be prime Jordan (which he is tonight) for us to win games. He needs help.

Yeah, Green is on the up and up, but the team still needs more from him. Doing all the little intangible things is great, but I really want to see him start providing more on offense.

Two guys are shooting above 40% from three:
Bullock and Green
Rest of team: 6-27 (22.2%)

Oh yeah, Kleber going in for Wood is so much better. Not...
Why are bigs in Dallas cursed?

Man, I'm really liking THJ so far this season. Why? He is finally making TIMELY plays. That's what he wasn't doing before. He would streak then provide nothing. Not that way at least in this game and vs Brooklyn.

Is McGee becoming unplayable?
I mean, if he can only get 9 mins in a game against the biggest team in the league and being off last night, I don't what use he can be for us going forward.

Jason Kidd on JaVale McGee: ?He?s going to start but you saw tonight we can play Dwight, C Wood and Maxi. We believe in JaVale, he?ll be better.?

The Magic aren?t even starting a point guard. I know Banchero can handle some, but a 60-60 tie at half is not encouraging. At least they finished them off.

We still need to make Wood that second guy. Truly bizarre they seem hell bent on making it hard for him to fit in off the bench versus just force feeding him the ball (and starting him).
Wood isn't an intangibles guy. He is a guy that needs the ball in his hands to be effective.
I feel like it's one of the only ways to take the load off of Luka.

Definitely hell bent on it. I understand riding out the promise to start McGee, but it feels like they're also giving him enough rope to hang himself. He has been unimpressive thus far.
The problem is, when/IF he does hang himself Wood will still be probably coming off the bench.

Kidd kept calling for Wood to come dbl team to help Luka on the perimeter vs Banchero. It resulted in a wide open 3 from the guy Wood left. Luka complained immediately and I had my hands up like wtf. Then, the next possession Kidd called him over again. Banchero tried to do too much and Luka got the steal and "Take Foul". It was a wtf moment that turned out a positive result that time.
I don't agree with helping Luka too often especially when there is no significant speed disadvantage on the perimeter. If we do that vs good teams with top guards, we are going to get shot out kf the building.
Bottom line is, Luka has to be better at staying in front of his man. He has to either earn trust from coach or we need to be developing a really good zone to mix into our defensive scheme.

I'm going out on a linb and calling this early. Josh Green will end up being the answer for a starting SG at some point. Dorian and Reggie are fine defenders but we need someone quicker to handle PGs and shifty guards. The hustle and the defense is impressive. If his shooting continues to improve, it might force the coaches hand.
For right now, his minutes just need to increase and I think he's definitely earned it.

Green seems to have found something in the corner 3...hope we see more of him.
I really hope they dont run Wood out of Dallas. He needs to be the starter, and he needs to be extended. I think the criticism from Kidd on the loss got to him last night.
Im loving THJ so far, as another poster said, his points are more timely so far.
Hearing him after the game say its his 6th game since January really put it in perspective. Glad hes healthy.

On the THJ front, what would we consider to be a good game for him? My thoughts are at least 15 points on at least 36% shooting from the field. (FG's + 3's combined) He's not a rebounder or an assist guy so I think we can't includes those tangible stats. IMO, THJ clearly has more bad games than he has good games. But I think it depends on where the bar resides between good and bad. And I get it as sometimes only a few buckets from him may make a significant impact to the game. But at the same time, you want to see more from him given his hefty salary.
Edit: BTW, my question goes well beyond this season as I'm referring to him since the time that he arrived here in Dallas.

This is just me being optimistic it could be different than previous years. I saw a few more drives to the bucket than usual. I'd just like to see more mix from him because he is capable and we dont have many versatile players.

I feel ya on that. I just know that an OFF game for Luka is when he plays poorly which you don't see too often. An ON game for THJ is when he plays well and we don't see that too often.

Proof the starting lineup isn't working.
https://www.si.com/nba/mavericks/new...dd-luka-doncic
"Among those 20 lineups, the Mavs' starting lineup with McGee is allowing 49.7 opponent points in the paint per 36 minutes ? ranking worst by a 4.3-margin. In fact, only five of those lineups are even allowing 40.0 opponent points in the paint per 36 minutes. Considering even teams with a notorious lack for rim protection have fared better, it's a concerning limitation for Dallas."
Imagine how that makes our FO look that the ONLY fa we signed we had to promise the starting spot and is unplayably bad.

If you don't have the personal to protect the paint. FN Put in the guy who can provide offense and move the ball...ffs.

Some twitter fans think Kidd just doesn't like Wood and wasn't for the trade. I'm not ready to go that far, but calling Wood out after 5 games while being fully committed to Javale starting is f'in bizarre.

This organization is so stupid. Its a good thing Dallas won immediately with Tyson Chandler then treated him like shit afterwards
