On the other hand, Kidd mentioned that the starters were Kyrie, Luka, and Williams (with OMax and Lively in preseason). The fact that Kidd still doesn't see him as a consistent starter is a disgrace.
If we can't give him a consistent role, then we really do need to trade him.
|
Idk if he's a starter though, tbh. Everyone outside of Luka and Kyrie needs to be fighting for their spot. If we went based on doing the right things and work ethic he would definitely be a starter, but so would Powell.
If Omax is better, then he should get the nod over Green. They just need to figure all that out sooner than later.

The Blazers remain engaged elsewhere on deals and will are expected to immediately engage contending teams on trade talks to move on Jrue Holiday, sources tell ESPN. Portland is committed to its young group of talented guards.

Lillard goes Milwaukee as part of a 3-team deal with Jrue Holiday, Deandre Ayton, Toumani Camara, a 2029 unprotected MIL 1st, and unprotected MIL swap rights in 2028 and 2030 to Blazers. Phoenix lands Jusuf Nurkic, Grayson Allen, Nassir Little and Keon Johnson.

I?m just happy to see Dame didn?t get to pick his destination (Miami). Also glad he is going to the Eastern conference.

I mean, we'll see what Portland gets for Holiday, but that is so far a pretty terrible trade for them.

Mavs PGs (or guys who CAN play PG): Luka, Kyrie, Curry, Hardy, Green, Exum, camp/two way
He'd definitely be that consistent ball-handler we haven't had since Brunson. Maybe Kidd will never trust Hardy/Green with a consistent role and there's a good likelihood that Exum won't be a consistent guy. Maybe it would take Hardy/Green to get him.
It's definitely interesting.

Ayton is young and if Scoot becomes something, they have four solid rotation guys in Henderson/Grant/Thybulle/Ayton. They may not be playoff, but they can set some picks for Scoot and get him developed while playing some defense which wasn't going to happen with Nurk.
They get a FRP and if Bucks implode, those pick swaps could be good. PLus they can probably get a FRP and a couple of seconds or some good talent for Holiday
Now Suns? If they hated Ayton's defense, Nurk will absolutely kill them. Maybe they plan on scoring 160 a game and allowing 150.

Me too. I'd consider Hardy as well. The defense is needed and worth it.

I mean they have a lot of players. They made their starting five worse (Nurk. is the worst defensive big in the game) and added a couple of second/third-stringers.

That's a lot of drama or spite or something. Little and Allen will help them. Nurkic is a really good rebounder and nice offensive player who won't get upset about not getting shots and can pass the ball well. I doubt many teams will be attacking him in the paint. Switches to perimeter and injuries are his issue.
I'd not have given up on ayton but apparently there were chemistry issues with him and that team. There is not enough shots to go around for all of Booker, Beal, KD and Ayton. So for about half the price they get a vet servicable center. Plus they add some nice depth pieces. If it blows up in their face they deal KD, Beal and Booker to get back any youth lost in moving Ayton.

The guy who predicted the Mil/Dame trade a week ago said the Mavs and Sixers are interested in Holiday.

I bet $50 on going to Philly, but if we can pull that off, Nico needs GM of the year.

I don?t know what that trade would look like. Holiday is owed like $36m this season I believe. Hardaway, Holmes, Hardy plus picks?

That is basically what it has to be
THJ - has to be in the deal
+
Kleber or Holmes - pick one
+
Green, Hardy, etc - pick one

With all the guard talent the Blazers have already, I can't imagine them being interested in Hardy.

Agreed, I think it would be Green, and it makes more sense with his contract status anyway.
I would absolutely do THJ, Maxi, Green, and a pick for Holiday.
But I wouldn't care too much if we didn't get him either.

Only logical move would be THJ, a big (Kleber or Holmes) and Green. Green could slot into the 2 next to his buddy from the Aussie team.
Scoot/Green/Thybulle/Grant/Ayton at least on paper is a potential playoff team if well coached and has a balance of offense and defense.
Just comes down to what Green wants for $ and if Blazers think they?d also want picks.

TMac saying the Suns would have accepted THJ and Holmes for Ayton back in July.

Well you can't with a straight face say Wood, who they coulda kept for cheap, is a head case just to bring on another head case for 30 mil a year. Add on to Irving needing to work at 40 mil a year, and you'd be really screwing yourself cap-wise if it all went belly up.
That's a hard decision deal, but the fact that Ayton got you Nurkic and Allen in return speaks volumes.

Two firsts or more for Holiday? No thanks. I'd do THJ/Kleber/Green and a first. Nothing beyond that.

Trade, Tim Hardaway Jr, Dallas Mavericks
Brad Townsend: I mentioned to Hardaway that a couple of days ago Jason Kidd mentioned his name and 6th Man of the Year in the same breath. That apparently took Hardaway by surprise. ?You guys heard it first from him,? said. ?I?m a hybrid, I guess, at this point of my career. Whether I start or come off the bench, I?m not going to be one to have an ego or anything like that. That?s not going to get you anywhere.? ?I?m just here to win ballgames.? I asked whether the 6th Man of the Year goal appeals to him. ?Once I have a conversation with him (Kidd), then we?ll see,? Hardaway said. ? via Twitter townbrad

I just don't really know what role THJ still has on this team.
Good to hear about Lively. He only needs to be better than Powell to start which shouldn't be too hard to pull off.

At the very least THJ can be Kyrie's Boban. The two of them are besties.
At most, I hope he's a sparkplug for 10-15 minutes early season only to become a thirdstringer behind Hardy/Green late season.

I follow a ton of Mavs Twitter people and have yet to read anything so far in this camp about Richaun Holmes - nothing at all. I didn't even see any of the press day goofy stuff the players do. Nor any practice video clips.
So is he here? How does he look? Is he miffed about some of the rooks being highly talked about instead of him?
