Is it just me, or is this game a lot closer than it should be?

It feels that way, but the Mavs weren't going to lay that many bricks all game long. Honestly, if you told me Booker would start, play 15 minutes, and only score 3 pts in the first half, I'd be worried that we'd be up 11 at half. Instead we're down 11.

What happens when Booker starts to heat up in the 2nd half?

The moment the Suns cross the 95 point mark they win this game. Dallas just can't score very many buckets. Dirk is the only shooter on this team.

"First to 100 wins" is usually the rule of thumb, but I think 85 might clinch it at this rate... They only have 51 points with 6:00 left in the 3rd.

Yeah, 85 very may well do it. I bumped it to 95 to leave room for the Mavs getting "hot"... also dropped it from 100 to 95 for emphasis because I fully expect the Suns to sail way past 100.

This has turned out to be a beeeee-a-UTE-i-FUL night!

Before Barnes' last 3, ESPN says DSJ, Wes, and Barnes combined 9 for 41 tonight.

Again, I'll ask who is an actual shooter on this team besides Dirk?

ESPN radio had this note before the game, PHX had only held 1 team below 40% FG shooting all season. It was DAL in their first matchup this season. Now PHX has done it twice. Both games vs PHX this yr DAL has shot 36.4% Smh.

Wes Matthews my MVP tonight 2-17 FGs. Absolutely awful. Honestly, I don't want the Mavs to trade him. He's just not very good. Keep suiting Wes up I say!

For all those on here worried the Mavs can't tank. They just posted the worst record in the NBA in the month of January at 3-11!!

Go Otters!!!

Doesn't matter how you get there (tanking or sucking), you still get the same number of lottery balls for your record.

So the Mavs are just sticking with these jerseys for the tank, right?

Ah ok, I thought maybe was hinting at next year's lottery draft rules.

Wes, 2-17...please if there is a greater power, then let some team trade for Matthews. I love tanking for a top 3 pick, but we need Wes to play his way to another team. 2-17 won't cut it.

These Jamaican pride jerseys are the true mvp's that's for sure. If we played like we have in these jerseys all year we prolly win 1 game.

I know some are going to say Wes, but imo, he use to be a shooter. Now, Wes is an average shooter, imo. 41% FG, he is above average from 3 (this season), but he's always been a streaky shooter, especially since the injury.

That's a big reason why I'm not sweating bullets over our tank. Mavs are very capable of having these 5-21 stretches like they did in the 1st qtr & finding themselves down double digits to one of the worst defenses in the league. Like Underdog has said a time or two, it's not tanking if you're just not very good.
Wes had a stinker last night, but despite that 0-9 on threes, he's still hitting 37.5% (league average is 36.2%). He's a true 3 and D guy that has been more or less forced to try to do more since this team hasn't been good for over a season and a half now. And agreed he is streaky because of it, too.

0-4. If we'd have worn them all season, we'd be on pace for 0-82. That record is so bad, Silver would not only give us the first pick, but also the second and third, because he would have felt so sorry for us.

Definitely hurting negotiations for a good pick. But I'd still say teams notice his fuller body of work and not just this one game, which is easily his worst of the season. He's a perfect fit for any playoff team that needs something more from their SG/SF situation. He's an ill fit for this team due to the necessity to have him do more as we don't have the playmakers to push him to the corner and expend all his energy on spot up threes and defense.

@ESefko: At least we now know what that DAL on the Mavericks' new alternative uniforms means: Dead Ass Last. They are 0-4 in their new duds, and we can't think of a more appropriate word. They're last in the West and, the way things are going, will be last in the NBA before long.

I noticed the Suns ran with Booker, Jackson, Warren, Chriss, and Tyson for their starting lineup. Interesting to see if they stick with it, as I though Jackson played really well at the two. Issue will be if Booker can handle PG duties, but they have a decent future ahead if Booker and Jackson keep improving, and if they can retain Len, who I think can be a double double machine once Chandler clears his contract there.

They have some nice pieces. The problem is that Chriss, Bender draft looking terrible now. If I'm MBT I'm quietly inquiring about bender. Still only 20

Yea that draft, as a whole, was poo. I'd also be interested in a Bender looksie, but what do the Suns have to gain in letting him go so soon?
