Wow...where is everyone?
I remember last year this thread was buzzing.
I guess this is what happens when all you got is #50.
How about Gordon Hayward going 9, then Paul George going 10th? I remember hearing Paul George's name a few days ago, as a player who might make a push to get into the 1st round... (I think that's what I heard anyway...maybe he was regarded higher than that)

There is no ? Paul George is lottery talented. There are though ? on George, work ethic has always been a ? with him and he didn't improve in any area from freshman to sophomore year except free throw shooting. Shot selection can be downright disturbing at times. He is a guy with a great deal of athleticism (probably most athletic wing in the draft unless you consider Aminu a wing) he doesn't work hard defensivly and off the ball which worry some teams that he won't work out well in the half court, you could argue that he is Inguodola with great range (yes he is that talented) or he can turn out to be a complete bust. Its about time Indiana took a risk
Heywards a good player that is in the perfect system, there inside cuts and curls is where Heyward is best at also if they give him a chance to play a little pick and roll when Williams isn't on the floor. doubt he ever becomes an all star tho, but good pick

While we didn't have a earlier pick, i'm kinda pissed that the Spurs took James Anderson. Considering he was kinda on our radar if we were to move up / he were to drop, but meh whatever. Just hope that's not a name that we will be haunted by in the future.
:edit:
Hmmm, Dominique Jones to Mavs.

Stein tweeted that Dominique Jones was picked by Memphis for Dallas.

Is Dominique part of a trade? Don't know much about him. His stats aren't that impressive. Wonder if JJ or Rodrigue going somewhere?

While it's certainly possible that the Mavs just saw an undervalued talent and picked it up, this seems to tell us something about how confident the Mavs are in Roddy's ability to play the point, no?

Stein says it's a straight purchase, $3mil, for Jones.

Good point - Roddy/DJones might have a pretty bright future ahead of them...

"Straight cash, homie!"
From what I've heard and seen, I see a Dwayne Wade-starter kit with Jones. He attacks the paint and can absorb the contact and finish...still needs to work on the jumper. Decent wingspan for defense.

Like the pic he is fearless, uses his body well, very strong, active on both ends, improving jumper, he isn't very athletic but he is a playmaker with a legit 2 body

Shows a much brighter light for the future of the Mavs as well. They needed some youth infusion. Plus, it's a good return fire to SA picking Anderson (which sucks).

Roddy/DJones definitely make us younger (not a bad idea if we're trying to convince a premier player to stake his future in Dallas...)

Hmmm, coop or followill is saying something about that the mavs are going to sell the pick to the raptors.
......i think, if i was hearing that right .
:edit:
Yea, we take Alabi @ 50. And the word is that we are shipping the pick to Toronto for cash and or also a future pick.

According to @Mavstats he was the only player in the nation to average 21 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists. I'd say that's pretty impressive. He also shot a ridiculous 8.5 free throws per game. I don't know if the ability to get to the line is something that translates to the next level but that's definitely something we need.

That's impossible - word on the streets is that our FO sucks, mostly because they don't add youth (as proven by the picks lost in the Kidd trade... don't mess with the bit!)

Dreadful day for Oklahoma's early entrants. Gallon and Warren both go in the mid to late second.

If Stanley Robinson doesn't go in the next four picks I'd like to see him on our summer league team.

I didn't really see him play in college so I'm feverishly trying to catch up with some youtube vids. He's got the build of a safety and seems to be able to finish well around the rim (he's got a nice right-handed floater). So maybe that will translate into getting to line in the pros?
I do like the move. I wish we had managed to keep Alabi though. He's a first round talent according to the draft guys who fell to us at 50. Given the uncertainty at center, I don't quite get why we gave him away.

Chad Ford said he slipped so far due to concerns about his physical. Not sure what that means but maybe we were one of the concerned teams. Plus we got a little bit of cash and I'm sure that didn't hurt.

I hope RC actual remember his words and dont play Barea still as the guard beside Kidd because he knows (theoretically) how to defend the PnR and knows theoretically how you should make a layup or floater....

Barea is a goner unless a big trade keeps him here through necessity (like if Roddy gets shipped as part of a package for LeBron or something...)

Yep, I pointed him out to my friend who I was watching the draft with. Wasn't there something posted a couple days ago on here about Roddy and Kevin being friends? I seem to recall it being brought up during the talk on the Mavs' possible interest in him.

Well, they played on the same team, you know. Its not that hard to believe that there is a friendship there.
