For better or for worse, gone are the true blood feud days of the Jordan and the Jordanaires versus the Motor City Bad Boys or even Celtic-Pride versus L.A.'s Showtime.

Now we have feuds manufactured by half-quotes and sound bites from locker room interviews 6 months stale.

Give me real feud-starters like when Phil Jackson accuses Pat Riley of intentionally knocking down his players in playoff games. Or when Red Auerbach lights a victory cigar as a signal to the opposing team that they've lost even before the game clock ticks down.

Not this Wade and Dirk ignore each other business.
