Funny, the Lakers pretty much admit that they just signed KCP to the one year deal so they are allowed to talk to Rich Paul during the season....yeah they will totally talk about KCPs future and not about Lebron.

What a Micky Mouse league

Cle is shopping their first round pick. Here's some hypothetical. Noel, Wes, Powell, and our draft pick for TT, Shumpert, and their first round pick? If cle wants to do a salary dump.

So Clev dumps salary and what do we get? Hard pass on that trade idea.

Actually really like the idea of opening the draft up more. Too many teams dominate the bottom and stay there.

It sounds like a good idea from first impression. But didn't they just change the chances in the last several years to improve the worst teams ... after Orlando got 2 #1s? If the goal is make a more balanced league, then the issue is really super teams like GSW and CLE right now. I'm not sure how big of a change this will actually make for the bottom feeder teams or even this year for all non-top-four teams. JVG was just quoted the other day of saying this year is already done, just give the GSW the trophy and lets start talking about 2019.

Yeah it won't fix the super teams issue. I'm not even sure if legislation/policy changes can.

I think it's a good start, though. Doesn't target the top, but hopefully starts to kick the bottom teams in the butt. Nothing like tanking to get a top player and then not even having the development guys/coaching to do anything with them. They just squander the talent and either kill their careers or guys just leave for teams with actual development and coaching.

Another idea born out of the competition committee that could gather support, league sources said: No team can pick in the top three of the draft in consecutive years. For example, if Minnesota wins the No. 1 pick and drafts Karl-Anthony Towns -- as was the case in 2015 -- it can pick no higher than No. 4 in the next lottery. For now, that idea is outside of the league office's proposal but is expected to be considered in the upcoming committee meeting, sources said.
This is the only part I care about really. The other stuff is nice little tweaks but I want this to happen, and have wanted it for some time. And it sounds like they aren't quite ready to go this far yet, which is disappointing.

Yeah, the non-consective top picks is easily the best idea I've heard kicked around... I mean, you want to discourage tanking, but you also want to make it possible for bad teams to get better -- this seems to strike a decent balance.

I don't mind draft reform if they did something about super teams as well.

Yeah I think the NBA's 500k fine for tampering with PG13 shows just how far away that possibility is. Simply disallowing PG13 to be a Laker for a year after his free agency would have been a better penalty. Hell a 2nd round pick penalty would have been worse than a mere 500k fine. I'm with you though, I wish they would do something about it. Sadly super teams has generated a lot of revenue during the regular season though so I don't see anything happening until that changes.

He's not worth more than $10mm more annually than Mason Plumlee, though. He's worth right about the deal that was rumored. But we can't sweat it. If he proves his worth, he'll get paid and remain a Maverick.

How so? Noel was offered 3.5 mil more per season for an extra year. And he isn't really that much better than Plumlee if at all. Different players though.

Late to this but couple of thoughts:

1) KD consistently shows how mentally weak he is and how much he second-guesses himself. He seriously need to get on Twitter under fake handles to argue with trolls because he needs validation that badly? What a clown.

2) I'm SO f'in sick of the narrative KD's sponsors (Nike, mainly) are trying to create that he's some insanely tough basketball player who withstood so much adversity to win Finals MVP. No, just no. He's a great player who joined the winningest team of all time so he could coast to championship after championship. He doesn't bear any sort of burden in GS except the criticism associated with his move. He validates the criticism by being a pu$$y who argues with Twitter trolls.

3) Tim Cato... they said investigative journalism was dead. Someone put him on the Russia collusion story.

Player one accepted 13.5 million (average) with Per 36 stats of:
14.0 pts
10.2 reb
3.2 ast
1.5blk
8.1 EWA (estimated wins added)
81 games played last season

Player two REJECTED a reported 17mill a year contract with per 36 stats of:
13.1 pts
9.8 reb
2.0 ast
2.0 blk
4.6 EWA (estimated wins added)
51 games played

Noel obviously thinks he's better than Plumlee and Plumlee got 13.5, but other than the lottery hype for Noel (that has steadily worn off), basically everything else says he should be earning equal to or less money than Plumlee (mostly injuries)

Plumlee may not have the high ceiling that Noel does, but he at least plays hard every single minute he's on the court and I don't believe he's missed any games due to injuries. Until Noel actually proves himself, Plumlee is hands down the better center. Denver is making very solid changes after dumping Galinari and all of his injuries.

Knicks just signed Jarrett Jack. So they have Jack and Sessions to "mentor" Ntilikina...or because he isn't ready to start.

Looks like Noel started a trend...

@wojespn: Story posting soon on ESPN: Phoenix's Alex Len planning to sign qualifying offer before camp, will become unrestricted free agent in 2018.

That's actually bad news for Noel since that is a competitor next summer for your money.

I can honestly see the possibility of Noel going for 16-12-2.5 and signing a max contract with the Suns this summer, only to be injured and only average 4-6-1 next year for them while we grab Len for 10-13 and have him average 16-11-1.8

Playing next to DSJ will do wonders.

The first of those rules is being labeled as the "Harden Rule" -- unofficially named after Houston Rockets All-Star James Harden -- which will attempt to limit players from collecting cheap shooting fouls. This rule is essentially an extension of the rip-through move that was recently instituted, and is being termed as the "Harden Rule" for Harden's knack of drawing cheap contact and earning free throws by leaping into would-be defenders.

Edit-
James Harden sucks.
Eff the Rockettes.
DSJ > CP3.

I have nothing to add. I just think this needs to be repeated.

Clutter of three balls. Thunder have turned into the desperate rockets recycling players like crazy for some nba2k fan boy roster.

@CJMcCollum: Kanter released a statement about his love for OKC and the organization ... 4 days later he got traded. Stay woke, it's a business.

I think Melo does pretty well in OKC. He has shown in All Star games and the Olympics that when he has talent around him he is willing to share the ball. His defense stinks, but I think he will be a little more motivated on OKC. Considering what OKC gave up to get him I think it was a good move. Still won't put them past GS, but they certainly improved.
