Tim Connelly/Danny Ainge destroyed anyone's ability to get a star for less than 3-5 picks.
Brown would definitely be more in the range of 4-5 FRPs (which we don't have) if they are going for a full rebuild, but word on the street is that they are looking for a retool which would mean giving them a ton of new talent (which we also don't have)
We have exactly one FRP to trade, but we can also trade this year's FRP after the selection. It's nice to dream, though.

Absolutely not. Brown will net multiple FRP. OKC maybe?

That's actually a good dancing partner. Plenty of picks available along with young players to include in a trade. OKC could definitely benefit from having Jaylen Brown around for vet + star status. No clue what a deal looks like, but they certainly could pull it off.

OKC is an absolute model for how to rebuild. They saw the writing on the wall that they couldn't compete so they traded all their quality vets for picks and then developed the crap out of those picks.
Now they have a bunch of tradable assets, a bunch of picks, and they even sniffed the playoffs without the benefit of their 2022 pick.
I could absolutely see them making the playoffs this year and/or making some mega trades.

I think I read somewhere with all the upcoming FRP they have they can?t even sign all them to the active roster. Def see them moving some picks for a disgruntled star.

Did you see that video of Ayton not running back to the other side of the court then leaving the huddle when being called out? I don't remember Wood ever doing anything close to that, and the FO still hated him.
I mean, if getting Ayton helps get Kidd fired, then I'm down. Otherwise, that would be a titanic disaster move.

Yea. F that. We can't afford to have that guy. We can't miss with our additions in key positions. If a dude can't go hard in the playoffs as basically a role player then he has no business on our team.
You never know what goes on behind the scenes but you have to leave it in thr locker room and go all out on the court. You're essentially auditioning for other teams. Regardless of what happened on the sidelines in thr huddle, what he's doing on the floor shows me that he isnt 100% committed.

with all the talk of Morant being the next greatest NBA player by the taking media experts, I'd take SGA over Morant.

I'm not sure any decent basketball mind would take Ja over SGA.

Guys on The FAN yesterday (I know, I know) were talking about the quality big men left in the playoffs and who they'd take moving forward. Not once was Ayton mentioned. Embiid, Joker, and AD. The loveable Broaddus who is admittedly much more of a football guy, went with AD saying he's a man on a mission and won't get hurt the rest of the playoffs...OOPS

I would consider this a good offseason if mavs somehow acquired Mo Bamba and Jerami Grant
Bamba
Grant
Green
Kyrie
Luka
I think that lineup is very balanced between offense and defense.
Could matchup with anyone out west next year

FML, Stein's newest podcast he talks about Ayton to the Mavs. He said it's a total hypothetical, but come on, there has been so much damn smoke with this. And Ayton and Luka share the same agent.
Whyyyyyyyyyyyy

Just filling the air. Tough time of the season to fill a full podcast without stoking some rumors.
It's one thing to use up over 25% of your cap on a big guy. One that cannot hang with the other bigs in your own conference, much less in the finals? Not a good recipe. Hopefully Nico and Cuban are not that dumb, but as I told EL, can't write it off unfortunately.

Except that he said he NEVER does hypothetical trades. Cato and TMac are other legit sources with this rumor. This isn't empty spitballing. Even if this is agent driven, well, when it's the same agent as Luka then you're taking it seriously.
Mavs desperately need a center. This is a Cuban move through and through.

Hopefully nothing they want, but Stein said the 10th pick would be needed to make it work.
Hell no, but I feel it's already done by the way people like Chuck Cooperstein talk about it. Like they are grooming us for the inevitable.

Bertans and McGee works
Timmy and Kleber works
Kyrie would work with a third team
I wouldn't pull off a trade for Ayton even if it only cost us expiring contracts and no picks, though.
Ayton is not a basketball player. His rebounding in the playoffs was sub-Wood. He was out of position defensively as much as Wood. His offensive game is not that great and more than anything, he doesn't have the fire in his belly for basketball.
He was just tall in the Bahamas so they trained him to go through the motions so he did and got paid for it, but he's not someone who leaves his blood, sweat, and tears on the court.

If the MBT wouldn't play C Wood, how could they play Ayt.... NM. But they can't justify what it would cost to get Ayton. This would be a flop. I don't see them forking over that pick and matching salaries for him. If there's a trio that could fuck our situation up further, we have the men in place to do it.

At least Wood is generally in position to rebound.
I can count more than few times where Ayton stood under the backboard facing the other side of the court to position himself not to have any chance at a rebound. Like, he either doesn't care or has the lowest basketball Iq in the league.

He was pretty good earlier in the playoffs. But Non-shooters really suffer if they can?t space the floor in the playoffs the longer it goes on. I?d still love to have the guy, his shooting should continue to improve with time.

I don't think Mavs are far if KI stays. I'd take ayton if the Mavs don't have mortgage much in way of picks and Hardy, Green. Would not give up this years pick. Suns need a bench so if wood is out then send to Suns plus whatever matches salary wise. I'd do Wood and THJ. That said would rather just keep wood and get defensive atthleic role players and get younger. this is all assuming KI stays.
Guys like Dillon Brooks, Romeo Langford, stewart, Jeremy Grant (not so young), OGA, Trent, Kuminga. Maxi, Bullock and a pick swap for Myles Turner sounds good. Hope Mavs aren't screwed in lotto tomorrow.

Well Wood is gone. So gone that he would probably only work with us if he went to a near contender that he would get more consistent mins than here. I doubt he would even want his agent to answer the phone if we called.

Someone jokingly said we keep Wood to play next to Ayton. It seemed silly at first, but then it kinda made sense. I know Wood is gone, but if Kidd didn't ruin him, then we would have a lot more front court options.

Well we woukd have no defensive anchor or guys we trust to stay engaged. I think we'd have a more expensive version of last year's chaos. We need a guy that Kidd refuses to bench

Cuban has been just an awful owner lately that it really boggles the mind.
I can't really be optimistic about anything as long as Kidd is coach. And there are a plethora of choices now...Bud, Nurse, Williams, Rivers, Bugs Bunny etc.
Shoulda fired Kidd and hired Nurse before all of these other guys got fired. Terrible, terrible management.

IF...we trade for a center the only target of interest to me is Myles Turner.
My preference would be to shore that up without using the #10 pick so we can add a young solid piece to Luka, Hardy, and Green. Re-sign Kyrie and work the scenarios of draft and/or trade in parallel. Not sure of options to obtain without the pick, but I'm sure we will dig in. I know I will once I have some time and will share those here.

I hope the BT has a good read on Kyrie. If he isn't staying, then Cason Wallace makes a LOT of sense at #10.

I big guard may make sense even if KI stays. I'd still favor JHS over Wallace but either way I wouldnt complain since Mavs get to do the up close evaluation. JHS is 20-30 pounds of muscle heavier, 6'6" with 6'9" wingspan and outstanding with the ball in his hands controlling pace, creating for himself and teammates. I'd give Wallace the edge defensively but JHS is very solid defender.

How does Bertans contract work? Seems someone in the league might want to unload a long term salary for him. Appears that you could get out of Bertans deal for 5 mil in 24/25 so longterm might only be 22 mil. Could be more of a trade deadline trade asset.
I am not a big fan of trading pick for a vet but let's see who that vet is when they do it. I'd ctually rather trade a vet to Blazers like THJ if he makes Dame happy and get the pick in the 20's.

Been saying this since they decided to tank. Luka don't give a shit about some rookie 10th pick
So trade it
Bleacher report
Dallas Mavericks receive: Myles Turner
Indiana Pacers receive: Dāvis Bertāns, Jaden Hardy and No. 10 pick
Dallas' best-case scenario of leaping into the top four didn't come to fruition, but at least it avoided the disastrous possibility of falling back from No. 10 and owing this selection to the New York Knicks. This pick now gives the Mavericks a legitimate trade chip, and they needed one in the worst kind of way, since they're already worried about Luka Dončić getting a wandering eye.
The No. 10 pick may not do too much for Dončić, but sending it out as part of a package for interior anchor Myles Turner absolutely would.

They can have the pick OR Hardy, certainly not both. I think they'd favor THJ in a deal like that anyway and there may even be a way to pry Hield from them in that scenario.
