Default America elects its president

of beer. Miller Brewing Company is now running an advertising campaign around the idea that it's MGD and Miller light products have been elected "President of Beers". That got me thinking; we can have a D-M.com poll.

What is your favorite beer? Do you like any national brand better than the others? Are there good micro-breweries in Dallas or where you live? Do you like the mid-sized brewery beer like Fat Tire or Sierra Nevada? Voice your opinion in the first D-M.com caucus.

Mega-breweries
Budwieser/Bud light
MGD/ Miller light
Schlitz
Silver Bullet
Labat
Heineken
Pabst
Blatz

Breweries
Guinness
Fat Tire
Sierra Nevada
NewCastle
Moosehead
Redhook

Microbreweries
Blind Tiger
Blue Heron

Any other mentionables?

I can't see how Guinness would lose this contest myself.

If I had to drink one beer for the rest of my life, Ayinger Celabrator or Paulaner Salvator would probably be my choice, but as far as domestic American lagers are concerned, Lone Star and "fire brewed" Strohs have been perennial favorites of mine...

Heileman's "Olde Style", Weidemans, Coors "Banquet Beer", and original Schlitz are pretty darned good to...

Shiner Bock
Red Stripe
Newcastle
Kirin Ichiban
Sam Adams

I generally get my beer at a conveinience store, so my favorites have developed from those that are generally available there.

As far as the local stuff, Shiner is the Governor.

Paulaner Oktoberfest-Märzen is the Ambassador.

And the Master of the Universe is:

Too bad I can't find it here, those darn Aussies think Foster's will suffice for us yanks.

Since I will probably be on a diet for the rest of my life I have to go with Michelob Ultra.

If I wasn't such a lard a$$ I'd choose Celis Raspberry.

hell, how could i forget this pretty darn good one...

it's always great to have some in the fridge ...

glad we have something like the "Maruhn - Die Grösste Biermarkt der Welt" just around the corner...

(There are certainly fine beer shops, but none of them fully compare to "The World's Largest Beer Market."
Bruno Maruhn's shop once boasted over 2000 different beers; Bruno has since retired, and the next generation
of Maruhns have taken over, paring back the beer selection to a slightly more modest 1450 or so. It's the size
of a supermarket, but inside is nothing but beverages, and the bulk of the beverages sold is beer, from all over
Germany and from other EU countries, from all over the world, even from the USA. There's also lots of glassware,
and orders can be placed for kegs of any of a sizable selection of brands. There are also soft drinks, distilled
liquors and other alcoholic beverages, wines, and even some cases of the local Apfelwein, a very dry local
version of apple cider that might appeal to some lambic fans. )

Nothing says beer synergy like a Guinness/Harp or Guinness/Bass black-and-tan.

Shiner is def. the best Texas beer imho.
